I am pretty sure that there aren't that many guys at Jazz who are 30-32 years old making $110 (unless they have a business on the side). Maybe the guys with 30-32 years in the company are making that.

Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
Your thread might better be titled "Why Does This One Air Canada Pilot Have To Be Such A Tool?" Obviously unfair to paint the entire AC pilot group with the same brush unless you are trolling to provoke a reaction, which I suspect is the case. Maybe find someplace else to grind your axe?jumperdumper wrote:http://oncampus.macleans.ca/education/2 ... azz-pilot/

Fair enough...
No axe to grind so explain why this Air Canada pilot has to be tool then? Company culture?
Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
What kind of question is that?
Why is anyone a tool?
There are @##$%*&^ in every city, every family, every company in the world, get over it.

Exactly. They just happen to be more noticeable when they wear big giant hats (ie. more discernible than the average tool).altiplano wrote:What kind of question is that?

I do not want to resort to that level.
Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
Bump in rank?
Please...
Let me guess, Jazz pilot?
Seriously, calm down. You cast a pretty big net, that's point - ie. all Air Canada pilots are tools. Is that really what you believe?
I don't see any group belittling anyone, only petty individuals throwing stones. I have friends at various airlines scattered around - flag carrier, regional, low cost whatever, I really could care less where they work. Just glad they're my friends and doing what they're doing and I hope they manage to miss the pricks that we all have to occasionally put up with.
Good luck steering clear yourself, and remember if you can't see the jerk at the party...

I think everyone here is a little too sensitive these days and the overreactions are getting to be a bit much.

As a Jazz pilot all I can say is that every company has a few tools. We are not immune to them either. It is just to bad that 1 or 2 give all the guys a bad name. It is very easy to pick out the moldy crusty guys. I know it is a longshot but it would be great to see the egos disappear one day. No one flying a Dash8 or CRJ should feel any better than a guy on a King Air, and no one flying an Embraer or 777 should feel any better than a Dash or RJ.
Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
Jumper, do you know the difference between AC and Jazz? Because there's no such entity as Air Canada Jazz. If you had as much humility as you do anger, you'd retitle this thread and move it somewhere else. Or better yet, not be such a tool yourself, admit your mistake and end this.

Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
I like to stir the pot sometimes, but Canadian
pilots are notorious for turning the guns inward as executives
reap millions off our backs.
This pilot not only achieved a solid post secondary education,
but went through many steps in the industry to achieve his goal
to an airline seat. I would rather fly with this person
than an out of college direct new hire.
Further to this, the new threat to Canadian pilots
are wet leased foreign crews working for Canadian companies
not only taking jobs away from Canadians, but who have not gone through
the tough process that most Canadians have to accomplish.
Every aircraft that I have flown has its " gotchas" and must be respected.
The CRJ with its high approach speeds and small wings that can roll you upside down if you
are not careful, and lack of auto throttles, make it a challenge.
There are knobs everywhere and we can bid not to fly with these losers at Air Canada.
Their reputations become known quickly.
Ps , I was at Jazz for 8 years.
Be sure to check out the Canadian College of Pilots website.
Fly safe, one flight at a time.

Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
It's a long shot because Psychologists say the two professions that tend to be the most egotistical are 1) Surgeons and 2) Pilots. The reason is simple. To make a split second decision that has to be right, you need clear thinking which cannot be if you have a lot of things interfering with your thinking. Flattery will get you everywhere with them.705dreamer wrote:As a Jazz pilot all I can say is that every company has a few tools. We are not immune to them either. Why do some Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
I shouldn't paint all AC pilots with same brush.
The infighting and conceitedness between groups needs to end, I'm sick of the Haters.
When will the olive branch be extended from ACAP TO ALPA?

Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
No olive branch necessary. The two organisation have determined they are better off as separate entities. In this case, it appears to be a better course of action. Sometimes the parts ARE greater than the whole. For some reason there are individual pilots who insist on displaying their animosity to who they perceive as their "enemies". Entertaining in a way.jumperdumper wrote: The infighting and conceitedness between groups needs to end, I'm sick of the Haters.

Back on thread. Have worked for five major airlines over the years (none of the five have merged with each other) and they ALL have individuals who fall in the dickhead category. Vast majority of pilots are wonderful individuals. The rest; ignore them. For certain don't argue with them.

The guy in that article is me. I really don't care what Kevin says. Everyone calm down.
I am happy at Jazz. I have friends who are happy at AC. I know happy people at Porter, too, and Transat.
I think we can all recognize that people like Kevin - while they do exist - are few and far between. We're all on the same team out there. Let's all just go fly, make some money, spend it on things that make us and our families happy, and acknowledge the fact that we all share a love of aviation.
Fly safe everyone,

Good Comment** Congrats on working towards your dream and actually being articulate.

I am new @ AC and so far I have flown with a great bunch of guys that are very enjoyable to fly with! You cannot stereotype 3200 pilots!
