I did a search and couldn't find much on the topic. Playing around on a tablet, I got to thinking about having books like "From The Ground Up" or "Aware" to use a quick ref. Maybe the local VTA, or VNC?
Anyone know if these or other books / map / charts / ect are available?

VNCs and VTAs are not yet available in a digital format, however if you're looking at Southern Ontario & Quebec & NB, you can get the FAA charts online at SkyVector.com.
As far as books/charts, etc - not sure of the tablet type but if it happens to be an iPad, look at getting a good PDF reader like GoodReader. You can import any type of PDF, JPEG, Word file into it, and it'll read it just fine. Great for company manuals, equipment guides, etc etc.
You can get IFR charts/plates and CFS, etc through a NavCanada digital subscription that way or you can look at spending a little more cash and getting an app like ForeFlight, which gives you pretty much everything (excluding those Canadian VFR charts which are "on their way" at some point.) Can't get those things free.
