I just proved what..the uninformed input..ok I'll go with that.
I'll Dr Suess this for you grouchy. The 30 grand was only supposed to be in effect for the first 30 guys to help lower the intial start up cost, spreading part of the training costs over 2 yrs. I wasn't keen on giving the money but I had worked for him for long enough to know the money was fairly safe. As proof my 30 grand is paid off and I made 7% off of it. It was guys like you, C-150 to light twin to turbine pilots who kept it up by attaching blank cheques to their resumes thinking that would help them get hired.
Here is something else I find ironic. We are going to hire approximately 150 more pilots in the next yr and a half. There are over 200 applications from air canada, jazz, transat, C3 all wanting in now. This loan debate always seems to take place by people who have never actually worked at an airline or flown anything bigger then a small turbo prop. Why do you think that is grouchy?
If you want to debate this you will get the same response from me every time, the loan sucks it should be a bond for the WHOLE cost of training an initial pilot (more then 30 grand). Personally, I had the cash and the reason I had the cash was directly because of ML, so it wasn't a tough choice.
PS..try quiting your job now then go find one that pays 100 g's to sit their and get served by hotties..bet you can't!!

Pimper....I have a few friends who work there - and they all love it!!
Yes the 30 large was a setback, but it gets repaid and then some. Guys are makeing money off it.
Good planes, fun routes, massive expansion, fast upgrade potential, good company moral..... and I don't need to mention the eyecandy - all good.
Hopefully I'll see ya there someday.

Ok, I'm glad you got your money back. But if you already worked for the guy, did he not trust you to spend some more on you? So it was only supposed to be for the first thirty, is it still in effect and if so why?
I guess since I will get the same response on anything I put down here, there is no sense in debating this rationalized view you have. Initially I wasn't going to get into this debate but I was tweaked by your HK post where you couldn't believe wages might be going down, I wonder why?
KAG, I'm not arguing the point that it may well be a great place to work, after all its the people who work there that will make it a good place to work and they are probably all of the same mind.
Anyway, gents have a nice day.
ps in your first post it was uniformed, not uninformed, can I take my tie off now

Can anyone shed some light on the current and proposed senority lists at Jetsgo? It seems there has been a Captain and F/O list that are autonomous due to varying upgrade times and the like, but now with 2 types......are there 4 lists now? Could that cause potential problems down the road once a critical mass has been reached? Thanks for the thoughts.
thy sea is so large and my boat so small
I think you should take your tie off grouchy, get some circulation back.
"So it was only supposed to be for the first thirty, is it still in effect and if so why?" Already answered in my above post, try reading it again!!
"I guess since I will get the same response on anything I put down here, there is no sense in debating this rationalized view you have." Your trying to take the high road now are you??
"Initially I wasn't going to get into this debate but I was tweaked by your HK post where you couldn't believe wages might be going down, I wonder why?" I am wonder why, once again try reading. I said I thought it was BS that the top guys are making 25 grand a month and only willing to pay new hires 3 grand? Is there something difficult about that?? I'm also making way more at JetsGo and having a great time!!
Once again thanks for the waste of time

I redid this post to simply state that in MY opinion a dis-service was done by requiring the 30 large in the first place and another dis-service was done by paying it. This is a precedent setting move. The industry (meaning pilots) will suffer.
ps sorry to anyone who read the 1st post, I was called away half way through it and never finished it.
pps the high road is not as busy as the low road, everybodies rushing to the low road. (its down hill, saves gas)

When there's no other options........we'll take the cash. In the dictionary see "stepping stone airline" or "have no jet time" or "HRDC alternative"
Good time, fun crew, etc......just don't try and be something you're not- like a place to call a career and retire. Not a good transformation for the industry............

From one of Pimper's previous posts...
"There are over 200 applications from air canada, jazz, transat, C3 all wanting in now."
Why do these guys really "want in now"?
Is it because they want to fly 100hrs/month?
Or they like ML that much?
Or they have 30K to spare?
Or... they don't have much of a choice IF they don't want to move outside Canada to fly for a respectable company?
Certainly not for a long term career move!!!

JetsGo is the only joke that I can see. The fact that people are tripping over themselves to go there (most of the guys I see just can't wait to fly a jet and will do ANYTHING to do it) boggles my mind. Still, I guess if it clears out the industry and makes way for the hardworking guys that don't want to buy their way in, then who am I to complain.
I have talked to a few (5 to be exact) of my non-aviation friends who have flown as pax on Jetsgo, and how many of them do you think are going to fly them again? Zero. Why? On-time performance, for one. Sure, the FA's are cute, but that will only get you so far.
I don't want anyone to lose the 30G they put into this company, because I am willing to bet that the majority that have can't afford to lose it. The old trappings of the airline life (houses, car payments, etc) are probably weighing heavy, and they need something. They are desperate, and Leblanc is taking advantage, plain and simple.
A very sad situation is developing in our industry, with wages diving for the floor and pay-for-training schemes becoming the wide-ranging norm. I still love to fly after all these years, and will continue to do so, but I am not participating in this Walmart stuff. I can see it now: the flight crew shows up attired in green polyester pants and those blue aprons with the smiley face buttons and the epaulettes on the shoulders...it could save Jetsgo hundreds per year on uniform costs--although that is probably passed onto the pilots as well.
it stinks

From what I gather, they'll be running a ground school once a month through December. Probably in the order of 10-12 people per course. First course was on M22, second on A12 and the third on A29.
Probably not a career airline but a good place to stop in for a while and get some time under your belt. $46,000 to start with 11 GDO's and 4 weeks vacation. Standard medical and dental stuff. Get in early and if by chance they go belly up, it surely won't be for another 3 years or so.
The 30g bond is a big pill to swallow but as the industry starts to spool up once again the airlines will have to pay higher wages and ditch the bonds as there won't be enough bodies to fill the seats.......
We've seen it before and we'll see it again; it always goes in cycles.

Flightlevels, one thing you didn't figure is that Jetsgo doesn't require a letter of resignation to your old company like Westjet and AC/Jazz allows people on leave/layoff to work at jetsgo.

The pay scale is the same for both types. They are hiring direct entry captains into the fokker. Pay is 65 to start, 5 a yr raise. Up to 30 more if you are a training captain and if you want to work 1 or 2 days off per month you can make an extra 15 a yr. 10 bonus if company is doing well.

Well said, Flightlevels!Flightlevels wrote:Maybe you are right hammer...but a letter is alot cheaper than 30k. If the person has his/her heart in working here, the letter is not an issue, if they want the option to go back somewhere else...we don't want em anyway. all in MHO. hope all is well. FL.
