My wife and kids liked last years show. There's talk of returning. Dog might not be invited though. :P
Some thought last years thread was early. How do you like me now?

Can you get your wife to persuade my wife? I have made progress, from 'someday' through 'in a few years' to '2014'.....still time to work on next year!
Of course, if the racing gods smile on me and put a good event on at Road America either the weekend before or after then I've got it solved :)

If I knew how to work with women I'd give you a copy of my best selling book. :(

Other than the target and fly in movie I don't even know what my wife liked about going to AirVenture. I'm pretty happy she did though. She claimed it was an inexpensive vacation. I don't believe we're going, but I'm hopeful and interested.

I'll ask her to explain the things that she enjoyed. Let's hope she can make everyone else's wife want to go next year.*

The AirVenture sites back up. http://www.airventure.org/ wasn't working last night for some reason.

*unless some don't want to bring their wife. Then don't tell her about the parts she might like.

Cool, thanks Beef.

I could not go this year due to the business and kid's birthday conflict. Next year AirVenture falls on week after so it gives me more flexibility. Can't wait and I am booking the date now for the trip sans wife. Mine doesn't like shopping (I am happy for that) so even that is a no go.

Cheers

Dan

Things for wives at AirVenture by Mrs Beefitarian.

1- There's lots of airplanes. So your husband's happy.
2- You get to camp right there.
3- the Ford tent.
4- free trinkets and activities for kids.
5- fly-in movie.
6- Target and the outlet mall. (free shuttle from bus tower)
7- very cool people at the fly-in movies, George Lucas and red tail pilots.
8- Restaurants nearby.

Yeah I don't think this is helping much. Sorry. She liked the long drive too.

Going to go for sure. Didn't make this year's and really, really missed it. Won't happen again - Oshkosh is just way too good not to fit in.

I really have issues. I made it last year and it was every bit as spectacular as promised. So what do I think? "Gee I sure wish I could have went in 2011 to see the aerocars."

Ah well. If you like airplanes it's a beautiful thing.

Yesterday my wife's uncle started a conversation about my OSH T-shirt, he had gone to the museum and pioneer field a few weeks after 9-11. It caught me off gaurd because most of my in-laws only like planes that are taking them on vacation.

Well, I'm starting to think I'm never going to get another paying job, so I'm reasonably certain AirVenture 2013 will have to figure out a way to go on without me.

That's easy to do in Ontario, but an impressive feat in Alberta!

I keep telling the kids to get better jobs but they seem to like school. They certainly mess with my availability.

I just hope I can go next time the aerocars are there.

Plus this.

Of course he means if you have 10,000 hrs and are type-rated on multiple jets. Ontario is not a good spot for anyone who is beginning their career.

Back on topic.....anyone going to Oshkosh this summer from the southern Ontario region? Is anyone interested in going? I'm sure we could get access to a plane and cost-share.

Maybe we'll alternate Dan. You go on odd numbered years and I'll take even.

Oh nooo... I was seriously hoping to meet Mr. Beef. It's ok ill try to sell it to my misus as the annual pilgrimage or something. It has to sound important. Do they have a software shops presenting stuff on the EAA?

I am going to bring my super duper web apps. Just need an idea for something new never built before and aviation related.

Beer finder.

Pilots can enter their location when the find beer near an airport, other pilots can rate the place as to wether or not they like it.

My "Beer Finder" is a very good one
Every year it leads me here http://www.sosbrosbeerventure.com/photo-gallery.html

After 19 yrs of going there I can honestly say its the best place at Oshkosh

Lots of lovely inflateable pontoons to look at :smt040

Plane-sight, read it again more carefully - he means exactly what he wrote and it's actually quite funny.

As for SOS Bros, I'm looking forward to a thirst quencher or two again there myself. And I too enjoy checking out the specs of a good set of inflatable pontoons.

I know you have dislexia, but to keep up fleet.

Not every airport has a beer tent and what happens if you drop by to use the grass strip by the museum in June?
Also this important app will help guys like me find the free beer beside the wifi shack. :P
I'll seriously miss you guys this year.
