Barn Fire Saskatchewan Planes Lost
I don't know much about this. Perhaps people can expand. It sounds sad.

Fire raged through a barn in the Alida area that housed artifacts from World War II. (Courtesy: Kelly Schulhauser )A collection of artifacts from World War II has been lost in a barn fire.
Donald Fraser, a farmer in the Alida area of Saskatchewan, had spent some 40 years collecting planes and plane parts.
The items, including 17 planes, were lost in a devastating fire earlier this week.
Many of the items in the collection were made of wood and canvas.
"Most of them were twin engine trainers," Fraser told CBC Friday. "Some came from Britain originally and most were built in Canada."
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
There was no immediate word on the value of the loss.
Alida is about 230 kilometres southeast of Regina.

Never mind the airplanes... how about the old fella who has been collecting them? Some things truly are "irreplaceable"

Of course I feel horrible for the guy, but looking at the barn, was this not inevitable?

Not sure many people here remember it, but CWHM
in Hamilton had a horrible hangar fire, a while back.
Fire is the ultimate enemy of aircraft. They can survive
being underwater for decades, buried in ice, even abandoned
in a corrosive jungle for most of century.
The problem is that many aircraft are stored in buildings
constructed out of dried kindling.

Any idea of what planes were lost?
