Re: Air Canada Interviews
I think hiring needs is determined every 2 months when a bid comes out. I am also in the pool and am wondering as well if PIT courses are offered in order of when the pool letter was received.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
This is the first time I`ve heard of this (pool email). Have you guys done the medical yet? how long from interview to email or medical was the time frame?

I interviewed mid June and had my medical last week of July. I got the pool email last week in August.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
My experience was very similar to Bravowhiskey. They're sending the email to people who are successful in the intervew and medical process. In the past these people would get a course date, but since there are not currently firm course dates we have to wait around in a hiring pool until theres a spot for us. I would imagine that people will be offered course dates more or less in the order they were placed in the pool, but I'm not sure anyone here will be able to tell you for sure as it seems to be a new thing.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Previously (prior to 2008), if you were successful in the interview and medical, and put in the pool, you wouldn't necessarily be taken in order of being put in the pool.
The way it came down was... if a course came up, those people in the pool would be evaluated based on their overall score/performance in relation to the rest of the people currently in the pool, and those new people interviewing at that time. Those with the top scores would make it into a course, and some people could end up swimming in the pool for a bit, until their relative score was high enough to get a course.
However, after the hiring stopped in 2008, and then resumed, some people that had previously been in the pool, were brought back for interviews and subsequently given the thanks, but no thanks reply.
Going forward, with the current and future interviews and hiring, I am not sure if they are following the same protocols as before.
All I can say is that the hiring practice can be a real head scratcher, as many great people and excellent pilots have been turned away from AC.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Years ago I received the " competitive candidate letter". This was similar to the pool letter. The above post is right. The pool is formed, and when needed they cherry pick the candidates they want. Those with weaker scores may swim for awhile, but once passed over for 6 months were sent a different letter. That is how it used to work, who knows now.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Anybody interviewed late August or early September get any news at all yet??? PFO or medical, or anything?
And Is the "pool letter" email or via traditional mail?
Anyone know anyone with upcoming PIT course in October or November or are all course on standby for now ?

No October Ground School is planned. November is a high possibility though.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Hey guys just wondering if this means anything if your current employer gets called by ac after you did the interview??? Its been 3 weeks since interview. Just wondering if they call regardless or if this means that my tests and interview were good enough to call references?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Did you give your current employer as a reference in the interview? Was your current employer expecting that call? Would be kind of an awkward conversation if your current employer didn't know you were interviewing, then receives a call from AC.Flyinghunter27 wrote:Hey guys just wondering if this means anything if your current employer gets called by ac after you did the interview?
Re: Air Canada Interviews
I was under the impression that they contacted references after your medical. I was interviewed 3 weeks ago also and have not heard anything back yet.

Nope still waiting for a call for medical, but references have been called and talked to my cp today and he said that it was up to the hiring board to decided whether they want to give me a medical, but sounded very positive.....

Re: Air Canada Interviews
My current and previous employers where called a couple of days prior to me receiving the call for the medical. Based on my experience I'd say it's a good thing, I don't think they waste anyone's time on the phone unless you've made it through the interview process. I'd say well done, getting through the interview is something to be happy about. November GS is apparently a go.

Does anyone know for sure if there is a November ground school scheduled? And if so, for what date?
