My brother STILL wont talk about that trip with me LOL
Question for the instructors out there, present and past.
If you have an aircraft tied down, the school I was at had those cables running across the ground. If the aircraft was tied loose enough and the wind stong enough ( Don't laugh .... It's possible ) and the aircraft was actually flying ie, a CUB, C152 whatever ..
Could you log the time if you were nuts enough to sit in it ?????
I find the show very interesting, it is a little much about the wind all the time. But the show looks very real, the flight scenes are good. I like how they include the people of the area ... I saw one the other day when a young girl went somewhere in a plane to get her Prom Date. Never saw that when I was at Bearskin. I look forrward to seeing it when its on, and I get pissed at myself for watching the re - runs. But it is a good lesson for the up and coming pilots who think the airlines are the only jobs.
I remember one day in Northwestern Ontario it was so cold you had to break the dogs lose off the trees and tires. The C46 tires were sticking to the snow, and I was thinking that " there was no mention of this OR A PICTURE in the Cessna Become A Pilot Booklet in my flight kit from the Flying School"
My time in the bush was a real eye opener, and makes you think five people in line for groceries is no biggie, or driving to the Emergency Room is taken for granted .... when some people in Canada and the USA are hours away. I will keep watching if they keep making the show.
For those of you that have spent a season flying in AK, you know why they always talk about winds especially down on the Peninsula. And yes, ordering Pizzas and having them delivered by a 206 or seeing the school kids hopping on a Cherokee Six to go to school every morning. I actually think the aviation students might have problems flying without having to make a "crabbed landing". It would be something they wouldn't get a chance to practice very often. It sure is a different way of life and I enjoy the show and the memories it brings. My big wind experience out there was leaving camp one morning in relatively good weather to come home later and have to land the 182 across the gravel bar, into the wind which was definitely howling by then. Never paced it off but was definitely my shortest offstrip landing in something other than a cub. Under 300' for sure and maybe more like 200' I was pretty proud but no one else thought much of it, more like an everyday occurrence. Now just waiting for Arctic Air to start up again.

Although Aerial is cute I think her sister is hotter!
Fixed that for ya.
I agree, her sister is hotter, and a bucket load smarter too. The only thing I hate about that show is Ariel...I tend to fast forward every time she speaks. Stupid people bore me.
I met Ariel last year at Oshkosh and got a chance to hang around some other folks from the show at an after party.
I have defend her in the AvCanada world. She's putting on an act for the camera's. She was able to put wordS together and articulate much better than the old men fly-boys that were hitting her.
If she was putting on an act for the show she should have more self respect and represent herself with pride rather than stupidity and an embarrassment.
I stumbled upon the net worth of the Jersey Shore cast.
I also looked at the net worth of a few other reality TV stars. They may act idiotic on TV, but I'll be calling them Sir, or Mam when I fly them.
By the way, a classmate of mine fly Kim Kardashian a few months ago.
She wasn't sitting in economy...
To keep it on topic, there is a Carhart commercial running in the states featuring one of the guys from the show.
Perfect product placement if you ask me. Glad dude is getting paid for it.
