MGAS Otter CF-MAX, C-FMAX
Bit of nostalgia today watching the old girl working on the water at Cranberry Portage. Stll looking almost as good as when I first rode in it in 1958 in the Whiteshell out of Lac du Bonnet. Takeoff attitude has changed about 30 degrees nose up now though.

The turbine conversion sure makes it a nice plane to fly. Never have to worry much about an impending engine failure, or major hearing loss, its about 30 mph faster and that bleed air heat this time of year is wonderful!

I was on the crew that did the Vazar conversion on "Big MAX" at Viking. Glad to hear it's being enjoyed.

MAU has a Garrett mounted on the front of it. It is also an ex Manitoba government otter though.

MAX is out of the water for the winter as of Friday. Getting it positioned on the dolly to get it out took six men but it got done.

Found these three pictures of MAX just before we started the Vazar conversion (April 3, 2005).

I am looking for a pic I have of her when she was new. I liked the yellow too and have one when newly painted. Nice pic of the coonversion up north. Looks like Croll Lake and if it is MAX has hauled a lot of drums in there.

That old floating dock was a bit creaky when that photo was taken. I'm glad Conservation got a new dock that doesn't "do the wave" when it gets windy in that bay.
