Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
As a victim of laser hits throughout my flying career, it is a satisfying ending to see a d0uch3 bag clearly caught on tape with 3 squad cars pulling him over.

+1. This bozo will have the book thrown at him, from the sounds of it.sanjet wrote:As a victim of laser hits throughout my flying career, it is a satisfying ending to see a d0uch3 bag clearly caught on tape with 3 squad cars pulling him over.

Well, looks more like a 5 month conditional sentence.YYZSaabGuy wrote:sanjet wrote:. This bozo will have the book thrown at him, from the sounds of it.

Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
Sentence should be pointing lasers at him while he drives his car along a narrow ledge only wide enough for one vehicle, with his loved ones in the back.
Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
heh...next thing we know someone will add the restriction that he can't pull over or slow down to your suggested sentencelilflyboy262 wrote:Sentence should be pointing lasers at him while he drives his car along a narrow ledge only wide enough for one vehicle, with his loved ones in the back.
Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
These dumb idiots will never learn. As much as I would be inclined to crazy glue his balls to a railroad track and wait for the train to come along, that would put me in the same low life class as this idiot so that is out of the question. As much as I hate to say it, maybe the answer to this growing problem is lawyers. Be patient, wait till he has his day in court and when he becomes a convicted felon, take him to court and sue the shit out of the asshole. I don't know if this would work but it is a thought.
Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
This is the type of crime that is going to be like stealing bicycles. It doesn't matter how much effort the police or anyone else puts into it, until an airplane crashes you aren't going to see anyone going to jail.
Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
A conditional sentence? Ridiculous. I wouldn't get a conditional sentence if I threatened to hi-jack an aircraft...
I've been hit going through CYTZ control zone (and once my passenger reported it up in Scarborough, but I didn't want to look at it to confirm it.) I've filed a directed bright light report, and the second time resulted in a CADORS and a follow up call (CADORS: 2012O2714). There seems to be one particularly obnoxious jerk in the Danforth area that managed to get a constant bead on me up to 3 miles away (checked my recorded GPS position and compared with the approximate street location once on the ground), and he's gotten me more than once. I'd love to get an hour with him and some of the scientific lasers I use at work...

Now that would just be mean and vindictive!
That's the point. I then suggest we send him to Iran. They are pretty good at dripping acid in the eyes of the accused I hear.

Time for a laser registry?
conditional sentance? Should be at least a $10,000 fine payable or go to jail. Life in Harper's hug-a-thug program. Talk tough, no bite. Fine should go up by your age. Teenager? Young and stupid. 20's? Get a job. 30's? Get a life!!! This guy is 31.
(How about Elected judges! And what about that elected Senate they promised to us! Oh wait then we'd have a real democracy. What was I thinking...)

Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
Is there not a way flight deck windows could be engineered in such a way that would refract or filter out the laser to the point it's no longer damaging?
Re: Langley man guilty of pointing laser
Of course there is. It's expensive though. Military helicopter pilots have had helmet visors that do this for decades. As have welders.
