Gilles,
The Canadian Transportation Agency launched its investigation in June at the behest of an unnamed individual and a rival, Transat A.T., which offered submissions challenging whether the airline continued to be owned and operated by Canadians.

I'm guessing your smart enough not to have squandered your own personal funds in hiring a lawyer for this defeated challenge... My guess is Transat A.T. is funding your personal claim on their behalf, I'm also guessing your getting paid to do this. At least I hope so. Looks like your putting a lot of your personal time into this, like I've said before keep up the 1:1 fight.

I'm employed as a pilot for Air Transat. That's what they pay me for, that is all I do for them.

What I do outside of flying, I do it for myself, I do it for my colleagues, I do it for my Union, and I do it for you. And I spent a lot of my free time on it, for free. And yes, I have even spent some of my own money on this issue, but not on lawyers yet. Immigration Canada billed me $100 plus taxes for telling me how many Visas they had provided to Sunwing under the reciprocity Rule in 2011.

This morning I spent several hours writing a few more letters which I hope will have some effect

When all this is done and over, when Sunwing will have many more permanent Canadian pilots on staff and no foreigners outside of 1:1, I hope you will buy me a beer to thank me

If there was a "Like" Button here. I think you would have everyone's vote.

Well I guess it's high time that the airline industry launch a lawsuit against the Canadian government in the same fashion as the miners have. I wonder how quickly policies would be changed or if things will remain the same. It is time for this crap to stop!

The beer is on ice...
Thanks for posting the CTA report, it speaks for it self. SWG has always been and will always be Canadian, 100% (75%). It also saved hundreds of Canadian jobs when it was given control of Signature Vacations as part of the TUI transaction. I know this forum only cares for pilots jobs but when making the Tax argument you need to include all Canadian jobs. Signature was losing $20 million a year and SWG turned it profitable in less than 1 year and continues to expanded the Signature brand. As an insider it's clear to see that TUI doesn't call the shots, they certainly play a role but not to the extent that is accused of in the CTA complaint. I think your approach is a little flawed, and it's drifting into anti-competitive rhetoric as opposed to the real principles that your support based was founded. Pilots 1:1

The ALPA and Transat press releases whose links are provided above, are in reply to two (2) CTA decisions, one dated Nov 6 and another dated Nov. 7.

The Nov 6 decision concerned a complaint about Sunwing not being Canadian, and the Nov 7 decision concerned a separate complaint with regards to Sunwing applying to Wet-Lease 4 Travel Service Boeing 737-800s. Air Canada, Air Transat, ALPA Canada and Westjet had all opposed that Wet-Lease application.

I provided a link to the Nov 6 decision, but the CTA has yet to publish the Nov 7 decision on its website.

So we get to read the Transat and ALPA reactions to that second decision but we have no details about that Nov 7 decision.

Why is is being withheld ?

I'll remove my original post here... I was a little miffed with the previous comment. Stick to the subject, not the SCUMWING comments. Or at least come up with something original.
