You cannot fly a Canadian registered aircraft in Canada without a Canadian licence or an LVC. A foreign licence validation certificate will only be granted in exceptional circumstances (firefighting, etc) or for recreational flying or for a bunch of specific stuff involving training.

Are you legally able to work in Canada?

I would contact TC to see if you will have to do a PPC in canada or if one done in the US in the last 12 months would suffice. You will also probably have to write a couple or three exams. Not sure about this though as there is no provision in the cars for crediting foreign certificates.

:? Thank you Ahramin for the initial info.

i'm Going to get a workpermit probably as soon as i enter since my wife is a canadian citizen.
And as far as exams i wont have any problem. btw.i'm current part 135. Now the last question is:
How is the job market up there.Do you see any movement.I say this because,I see a very big Improvment in corporate and regional braches jobmarket for the year 2004.
I hope that applys to Canada too.
have a safe flight.

With an ATPL and some current multi time, yes i see things starting to move here for the first time in three years. I have a feeling that this year is going to see a lot of people moving up to Jetsgo, WestJet, etc which is making room for anyone with some time. Things are not good, but they seem much better to me than they have been in a while.

Difficult

Post by Always Moving »

I have done the same thing last year.
You will have to take the 3 written tests, a medical (find a doctor that is dual FAA and TC rated) and a ride in a twin (IFR) it is not difficult but you WILL have to study a bit, not too much. Then show your logbook and they will give you a license in about 2 weeks.
You are looking at 100CAN a test, plus some books and charts another 300CAN, ride 200CAN so if you are current you should be able to do it for about 1000CAN.
The job situation is NOT like the US. I have been looking for the past year and nothing.... I think my problem is that I do not know anybody in aviation.
Good luck
PS: go north
If you need some specifics pm me
