Re: Westjet 475 Emergency Landing in Regina
My wife, 3 month old twins, dog and cat were on that flight from Yyz-ywg tuesday...glad everyone is safely on the ground!
Re: Westjet 475 Emergency Landing in Regina
My condolances to all those who ended up in Regina.
Re: Westjet 475 Emergency Landing in Regina
Glad everything was okay, but I have a rather silly question.
Who held the other one? The dog or the cat and were either of them over 12 years old?

http://www.westjet.com/guest/en/travel/ ... ts.shtml#3Transport Canada mandates that infants are not permitted in the emergency exit row, and that no person shall be responsible for more than one infant (any child under two years of age) on board. For example, infant twins would need two persons, 12 years of age or older, to travel with them.

For fear of continuing the thread creep...
101.01 Interpretations
(1) In these Regulations:
"infant" - means a person under two years of age; (enfant en bas âge)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
605.26 Use of Passenger Safety Belts and Restraint Systems
(1) Where the pilot-in-command or the in-charge flight attendant directs that safety belts be fastened, every passenger who is not an infant shall
(a) ensure that the passenger's safety belt or restraint system is properly adjusted and securely fastened;
(b) if responsible for an infant for which no child restraint system is provided, hold the infant securely in the passenger's arms; and
(c) if responsible for a person who is using a child restraint system, ensure that the person is properly secured.
(2) No passenger shall be responsible for more than one infant.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can an adult travel with two children under the age of two? If not, why?

The "bad smell" was likely due to the fact they were flying over Saskabush
Re: Westjet 475 Emergency Landing in Regina
Or CDNPILOT77's cat left a used diaper from the baby it was responsible for under the seat.Jack In The Box wrote:The "bad smell" was likely due to the fact they were flying over Saskabush

CADORS 2012C5176
WJA 475 was en route from Winnipeg to Calgary and near Broadview when the crew reported a generator failure and a resulting odour along the ceiling in the cabin. They declared an emergency and diverted to Regina as a precaution. ARFF was on standby as the flight arrived safely at 2248z. TSB report to follow.

My inlaws were also on the flight holding one of the babies. If you knew them you would understand why I failed to mention that, or would admit to knowing them

Also as a point of interest I have known a few Westjet counter staff that will volunteer to fly with a single parent to keep the adult/infant ratio proper.

Apologies for the thread drift, but the WestJet FA's and check in agents could not have been better to my wife and animals! They were nothing short of amazing!
Re: Westjet 475 Emergency Landing in Regina
Apology not required, your discussion is far more interesting than what I had to share.
