Breaking News: Air Transat Pays PILOT to fight competition

So the old thread got pulled. I guess it kinda sucks when the truth comes out. Fine, slap on the wrist. No more personal attacks. Pilots are smart people but lousy detectives.

So TRANSAT has been compensating a certain pilot to fight this battle. Are they spying on the competition as well? Wow this almost sounds like déjà vu.

How come this certain individual did not start this fight sooner? Was he not being offered compensation in the past?

Of course he's going to use his real name, he never had a username on this website until Transat gave him the green light to start fighting Sunwing.

You might be right about there being more dirty business tactics in the future. Hopefully there will be someone around who will be willing to step up and make those practices public in an effort to let the government know if the companies are skirting any regulations.

I know Gilles personally and I which you did. He is a top notch guy and doesn't need to be "compensated" to fight a battle.
That is so unfair to say, you obviously have no idea.

Believe it or not, there is something else he is involved too that has nothing to do with aviation.
This other "thing", crude word, was recognized by AT almost three years ago and granted him some support as well. Not as a form of a pay check!



All in all, I prefer a company helping a pilot to fight his battle, AKA: Stepping up, than to give him a letter of redundancy.

PROOF!!!!!! Contrary to what you or politicians may believe saying it and repeating it does not make it true! Were you asleep in class when they taught how to write an essay or make a valid point. You have to back up your claim with EVIDENCE. You made the accusation ass, so the burden of proof to back up your claim lies with you and not Gilles. All you have done is waste bandwith. I have no stake in Sunwing vs AT vs whomever etc, I just want to be clear.

My first question is "Can you back up what you are saying?". This isn't my first AvCanada rodeo, and one thing I learned really early on was that yelling something doesn't make it a fact.

Now I'll play devil's advocate and say maybe it is true, that (presumably) AT has hired a full-time social media person to bring up this issue - again, I have serious doubts as to the veracity of this claim, but just for kicks I'll assume it's substantiated.

My next question is "Who cares?" Who cares if a person is getting paid to bring up what may or may not be dirty tricks when it comes to hiring foreign pilots for what is supposed to be a Canadian airline? From what I have read, it appears to be a pretty valid concern, no? Isn't that what should be addressed? I'm far more interested in the message than the messenger, am I missing something?

Do you have any proof of this or are you just mouthing off? If you have proof please post it and post under your real name to give yourself some credibility.

By the look of the amount of posts that pop up everytime Gilles posts something I am going to guess that Sunwing is paying a few of their employees to defend them.

If we had more people like Gilles who would step up and actually try and do something he thinks is right it would be a far better industry.

I've said it before, but I'm FAR more curious about the motivations and backing of those like assrope, making their attacks and misdirections. Gilles' motivations are pretty clear and obvious. Hell, he's stated them clearly and tirelessly. The amusing part is, even though the attempt to blow smoke about compensation seems obviously a lie, were it true - who cares? Either way it makes no difference to the issue of using foreign pilots.

The only ones I can see with a motive to try and discredit him are those he's trying to fight. Which tells me he's starting to make headway.

I cannot be sure who these pilots are, so for me, EVERY Sunwing pilot is now persona non gratta. Sorry.

PS. there is a slow growing consensus of pilots at my shop who agree with me.

Blocking canadian Sunwing pilot to the jumpseat will solve nothing and is not the solution. The jumpseat program is made by pilot for pilot and is an essential part of our benefit.

Alienate a group of pilot will just make thing worst and will create a loss for both sides. Transat pilot should try to work with the reasonable one at Sunwing to solve this issue not starting a war.

While I understand what you are saying , I urge you and those colleagues who think along the same lines to reconsider this position. As much as I am not fond of Sunwing, (the company) we cannot hold the pilots who fly there responsible for the action of management or the government. Taking your frustration out on fellow pilots is no way for us to make any progress.

PS. As to their foreign pilots, well since they are not really Sunwing pilots they are not part of the jumpseat agreement and therefore will not be given a seat. Nothing personal towards those guys, if we had agreements with Air Berlin, Thompson, etc.. more than happy to welcome them aboard.

I'm not 100% for what Giles is advocating, but I'm not against it either. However, I have nothing but respect for what he's trying to accomplish and the fact that he's not hiding behind a handle.

I fail to see how his credibility is affected if the unsubstantiated claims made by the OP are true.
