In your Sept 18 post with the photo of the Norseman there is
a Beech 18 tail in the picture. You mentioned it was CF-BQQ
and the aircraft was lost at Petit Lac Manitou in April 54.
Do you know the details of the accident.
I am interested to know what happend to that Beech.

Re: Pix From a Swamper - Remembering Craig Chenell
Beech the guy was taking off on skis. He had 9 pax on board and some drill core, from what I can gather. Draw your own conclusions as to the load. The lake is surrounded by hills and he failed to outclimb them. The airplane was originally a B or C model I believe, I've seen pictures of it with the early cowlings with the blisters to accommodate the valve rocker boxes, but when it crashed it had the P&W R985's installed. It was owned originally by Canadian Pacific Airways. When CP got out of the bush flying the airplane was sold to Northern Wings when that company was formed in 1948 or thereabouts. Note, after checking my source, the crash occurred in April 1953. Another note, years later we were working our way around a line of thunderstorms with our corporate F-27, enroute to Wabush, Labrador. We were well east of track and passed over Petit Lac Manitou. After landing in Wabush one of our passengers came up front and remarked that we'd flown over Petit Lac Manitou, and that his father had been killed in an airplane crash on that lake. He hadn't been born yet, his mom was pregnant with him when the accident happened.

Thanks for the compliments! Unfortunately I can't take any of the credit for the photography skills as they were forwarded to me. I was flying Tanker 277.
Beech love reading your stories of the early days of Superior Airways. Lots of lost history there. I still refer to the Beech 18 as the greatest aircraft I ever got to fly.

Great shots Boreas, please keep posting your pictures. It's nice to see some scenes from outside Canada. I have a friend who used to be an airways inspector in PNG, based in Port Morbid, as he called it. Some of the strips down there gotta be seen to be believed.
I see you have a CYYT windsock as an avatar.

I really like the picture Peace Arm. I flew there for many years, until I moved to the coast. Is the bay the Clearwater?bring me the horizon wrote:Hey everyone, I thought I'd share a few of my photos with y'all from this past summer.

Wow an Aztec. I thought all of those had been bronzed by now - they are almost as old as their namesake. Are there still horses on the strip at Ingenika?
Re: Pix From a Swamper - Remembering Craig Chenell
Maybe you should look again
