Post by bizjets101 »

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - Sept 20 2012

A plane preparing to take off from (KHVN) Tweed Airport Thursday afternoon hit a deer that had walked onto the runway.

The deer was killed during the incident, however no people were hurt during the crash, airport officials said.

Lear Jet 36 Air Ambulance was taking a patient back to Canada when the incident occurred, officials said. The patient was brought back to a Connecticut hospital while the plane was being assessed, airport officials said.

The plane never left the ground during the crash, airport officials said.

Tweed Airport is back open after the incident.

Oh Deer . . . that is a Dent - and explains why C-FEMT hasn't returned home yet.

Fortunately Fox Flight just added a Lear 35 to their growing fleet - thanks for the photo!!!

Guess they put in a call here; http://www.whiteindustries.com/

They have had 2 planes for how long???? That's AMAZING growth  . The only reason they have 3 now is the owner of IWO keeps company hoping, first Morningstar Partners for 14 months then Sunwest Aviation for 13 months and now foxy flight. Fox told him the grass is greener on his side which if you look on flight aware appears to be more smoke and mirrors. One trip a month doesn't pay the bills, and the only reason IWO has been flying more recently is because EMT is down.

IWO is based in YEG, I have flown it and she is nicely equipped. Aft locker, delta fins, also has the "batwing" and big tanks. Up front has a good FMS and even the cockpit defoggers, hated the seats could never feng shui myself to any degree of comfort. Back end was pretty decent nice one piece liner and nice leather seats.

Deer are definitely a problem and they can jump over fairly high fences. Saw a couple of them the other day at Gwinnet County airport in Georgia while taxiing out in a Piper Archer. What can you do besides keep an eye out for them and report them to ATC. At night, it might be an idea prior to the takeoff roll to look around down the runway and see if you can see small red reflections from their eyes in your landing lights. That might be a hint to delay takeoff until further investigation is done.
