Technical question for Embaer pilots
Hello guys,
I'd need some clarification from experienced E-170/190 drivers:
Our operation is new with the E-jet and there is some confusion regarding when to call for "FLAPS ZERO" after take-off:
Flight safety trained us to wait for the SLAT symbol to disappear before calling "FLAPS ZERO" .
but the FMS speeds "jump" to the next level as soon as S/F shows ZERO...
Some experienced guys mention that this is how is used to be on the E-jet a long time ago but that it is not valid anymore with the news MAU loads...
I checked the ACFOG manual but couldn't find anything.
-How do you guys do it at AC?
Thank you.

Re: Technical question for Embaer pilots
Speed is in manual and set vfs. At TOCA we call flch mode. We accelerate to vfs and call for flap retraction on schedule based on the small f on the speed tape. Once flaps are 0 and 90 degrees to the on course we go to speed FMs which accelerates us to 250 below 10 000.
Re: Technical question for Embaer pilots
Thank you for your inputs,
To simplify my question:
-When do you consider that your Slat/flat are fully retracted?
We are told to wait for the Slat symbol to disappear.
Cheers

Re: Technical question for Embaer pilots
That was our understanding at first as well, but our fleet management addressed the question to Embraer who said the flaps/slats are fully retracted when the readout says "0".gowest wrote:When do you consider that your Slat/flat are fully retracted?

Thank you Rockie,
This is exactly what I expected to hear.
By any chance, have you seen any supporting document for this change or was this only oral?
Cheers.

Re: Technical question for Embaer pilots
I have none from Embraer because our manuals don't go into that kind of detail. Our SOP's use the flap readout "0" to initiate acceleration and some guys were waiting for the flap indicator as you've been taught to do. The situation was clarified by management through a memo of some sort that I can't find, and couldn't give you anyway because they're a state secret as far as Air Canada is concerned.
Sorry.
Sorry.

Thank you,
I believe that what created some confusion is this note on AOM 14-08-05 Page 16
NOTE: For SLAT/FLAP/SPDBRK position 0 the legend and arrows will be removed from the display as presented below:
Cheers
