New CPL Time question.
hello folks, have a few questions on hours for working towards the Commercial ticket. i have a PPL now and that is it, no night, no multi... i have the minimum dual hours with only a few added in some emergency/aerobatic, plane check outs, etc. so really not that much. i have lots of PIC time though (relatively speaking).
i believe you need 35hr. dual, 30 solo, 100PIC and 20XC. so this is 35 fresh new dual hours from the point you START your commercial training? none of your previous dual training counts towards your commercial, correct? the PIC time counts and XC time counts though, correct?
thanks for any replies.
cheers

Re: New CPL Time question.
There is lots of good information on TC's website, that will take you only a few minutes to find the answer to your questions. You will have the correct information first hand, and it is good to spend a bit of time and look at the resources offered on their website..Much more than just the CARs.
Re: New CPL Time question.

Yesso this is 35 fresh new dual hours from the point you START your commercial training?
Re: New CPL Time question.
So how is the start of commercial training defined? All I can see is "Following the issuance of a private pilot license".mike123 wrote:Yesso this is 35 fresh new dual hours from the point you START your commercial training?
If someone has done a night rating, those dual night hours should count towards a CPL as they are post PPL, they are a requirement for CPL and they are learning a skill required for a CPL. As far as I know there is no form to sign to say "I am now doing CPL training" so how is it defined?
My concern was with solo time - what about many hours of flying alone in an aircraft under a PPL. Sole occupant, many times practicing flying skills - any of this count or do you need to do more if you decide to get a CPL?
As usual, there does not seem to be a clearly defined answer and many different opinions.

Re: New CPL Time question.
By the flight instructor that is going to sign you off for the writtenhow is the start of commercial training defined?
and flight tests and fill out your PTR.
Anytime after the date of issuance of the PPL - when your SPP
is signed by the AP with PPL privileges - is good for me.
Other flight instructors might have different opinions. The only
one that matters to you, is the opinion of yours!
Re: New CPL Time question.
You bet all that solo time counts. Especially when you do that 300 miler, two landings etc
I learned so much flying the taildragger post ppl... I was one lazy pilot when I first got my ticket, I think back on how txtbook I was!! One thing I know I need to work on is big airport procedures. I just don't do it enough and fly in the backcountry all the time. Yeah I know, not well rounded!
