No kidding. The possible misread was just a good chuckle to me.TheStig wrote:That's…"The Pen Is Mightier", Mr. Connery

Who's Mr. Connery?

Re: Air Canada Pool
Hey Dh772 are you in the pool? march 4th is next date from pool candidate update email.
Re: Air Canada Pool
No not in pool. Just curious if hiring was in fact going to continue or if it was on stand still after feb. gs. Good to hear.
Re: Air Canada Pool
How many people are left in the pool? Wondering when interviewing will begin again.

Re: Air Canada Pool
I heard Feb course is going to be mainly A320 and 67/77 RP positions. Can anyone confirm that for the candidates in that course?
Re: Air Canada Pool
Yeah those spots plus 330 RP, EMB FO and LCC319/767 FO.
Depending on available training slots all positions may not be offered in the initial course but new hires will be eligible to bid when the next equipment bid opens up.

Re: Air Canada Pool
let me help em out. how long does it take to go 330RP to EMJ or 320 FO?altiplano wrote:of what? the 330?
Re: Air Canada Pool
The new hires are frozen on their position for 4 years so unless you bid something else and the company needs you there, it could take 4 years.
Re: Air Canada Pool
If a position is frozen for 4 years how come new hires will be eligible to bid when the next equipment bid opens up?
Lets use an example. A new hire RP just got on the line, bids for a 320 FO position and gets awarded. Does that mean the RP is still frozen on his/her type for 4 years or does he/she immediately transfers to the awarded position?
And btw outta curiosity, can an RP make more than a narrow-body FO? Both hired on the same date on the latest contract.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Equipment bids are conducted 4 times annually, everyone is allowed to bid, but the company doesn't have to award a pilot who is frozen their desired position even if they have the seniority to hold the position. It's important to understand the difference between bidding a position, and being awarded that position.Baphomet wrote:If a position is frozen for 4 years how come new hires will be eligible to bid when the next equipment bid opens up?
-Vacancies and/or reductions are shown on the equipment bids
-Pilots then bid for their desired positions
-Positions are awarded in order of seniority…except for pilots in their first 4 years who…
-Bid for their desired positions and can either be awarded their desired position or bypassed leaving vacant positions to be filled by upcoming New Hires.
Think of it this way, the airline views EMJ FO, 320 FO, the RP positions and LCC FO positions to all be entry level positions and aren't interested in training any pilot hired into more than one of those positions (until after a pilots first 4 years when they are free to bid as they wish).
If awarded a different position, they can expect to be trained into that position within a few months.Baphomet wrote: Lets use an example. All FO and RP positions are paid the same rates (except LCC which are a bit less) for the first 4 years under the latest contract.Baphomet wrote: And btw outta curiosity, can an RP make more than a narrow-body FO? Both hired on the same date on the latest contract.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Equipment bids every 2 months, 6x a year under the new contract.TheStig wrote:Equipment bids are conducted 4 times annuall
Same hourly rate for the first 4 years, so it depends on how much you work. EMB F/Os are seeing very low blocks - up to 10 hours less than RPs give or take...Baphomet wrote:And btw outta curiosity, can an RP make more than a narrow-body FO? Both hired on the same date on the latest contract.
After 4 years the 320 FOs are the best for hourly rates, followed by I think 777 RPs and then EMB FOs and then 787, 330 and 767 RPs

That's right, thanks.altiplano wrote:Equipment bids every 2 months, 6x a year under the new contract.TheStig wrote:Equipment bids are conducted 4 times annually
