Re: Too low?
I just found my latest desktop pic....
You might think this was photoshopped or something until you catch a few vids on youtube of exactly the same type of thing. I don;t know who's crazier....some of these pilots or the people who run to the fence only to be blown away by jet blast !

Kudos to the pilot if he's doing it to spot land the airplane in the first few hundred feet of the runway and not to show off... although I have a sneaking suspicion it's the latter... as for the people... they are *&%$ing nuts IMHO

errr, you do realise what airport that is, don't you?linecrew wrote:Woaw...!
Tip: Youtube St. M that's all you need before about 10 million videos from the St. Maarten airport pop up. People have been seriously hurt trying to hold onto the fence there...the lucky ones only get a fine.
Re: Too low?
I've sat there many times and that is by far the lowest I've ever seen anyone cross the beach. They are close to 100 feet from the start of the pavement (and the fence), at least 350 feet from the start of the displaced threshold.

I most certainly do...and I'll bet my left arm he put that stretch -9 on the chevrons well before the displaced threshold. A "normal" approach at TNCM is definitely not that low over the beach. I would have loved to be lying underneath it...sipping one of those drinks with a tiny umbrella sticking out of it.
