Top Gun Imax!

Post by co-joe »

So who here is planning on seeing the best movie of all time in 3D Imax?
In YYC I think it starts on the 8th. Who's in?

Yes, but only the flight time, not the whole 1.8 - just in case TC checks your logbook against Maverick's.

No, you're dangerous!
I'm not sure about this statement.
the best movie of all time
I don't even know if it's the best Val Kilmer movie. Certainly the best Tom Cruise movie but...

Valued mods. Please remove videos that are not the top guns.

Goodness now, we don't want fighting on the forums, right?

None of the above can hold a candle to "Twelve O' Clock High"

Negative Beef. I was hoping someone who went would post a review. It's still on. Maybe the Mrs. will go with me tomorrow.

I'm going to a birthday party for my niece and possibly to watch the dragon and lion dancing at the Chinese cultural center today.

If you don't go today, I'm in for coffee/beer/soft drink, high five and quoting. Monday to Wednesday. Let me know.

Seriously man you owe it to yourself to go see it in Imax. I talked my girlfriend into seeing it yesterday at Country hills, even though I know she only went for the beach volleyball scene. What a classic movie. Even though I know every line It still struck me how many classics there are. The 3d is ok, they didn't do anything amazing but it was cool. It's also interesting to see how non HD it is. Still worth every penny, that movie was made for the big screen.

I saw Top Gun when it came out and I honestly don't understand how it's gained such a cult following among pilots. The movie was cheesy and lame and even a bit gay. If you blow it up to IMAX proportions I would guess it just gets lamer and cheesier and if possible, even gayer.

So what exactly is the attraction to this movie? There are plenty of other "airplane" movies out there that are much more worthy of cult status.

CID you have to remember this was made in 1986, for its time it was good. I consider star wars one of the cheesier movies so to each their own I guess :D

That was pretty spectacular. Thank you for the heads up co-joe!

It felt like I could reach right in front of Carol and Charlene for those tasty looking BBQ ribs at the bar while Goose plays the 40 foot piano, "You gonna finish those?"

sanjet...oh I remember. I was there. I saw it back when it was released. And I remember a certain bunch of pilots almost wetting themselves over it. Like you said. To each his own.
