Cessna rolls out first production all new Sovereign Mar 4/13
WICHITA, Kan., March 4, 2013 — Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today the first production New Citation Sovereign rolled off the production line in the company's Wichita, Kan., manufacturing facility. The New Citation Sovereign is one of six new Cessna aircraft expected to hit the market this year.
"This rollout today is proof of Cessna's commitment to bringing new products to customers in 2013, and demonstrates our strong investment in the future," said Kelly Reich, business leader for the New Citation Sovereign. The aircraft was announced at the National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA) trade show in Orlando five months ago. Reich continues, "It's a short turn-around from just announcing this program last fall, to already having an aircraft rolling out the door and headed to the next stages of completion. This is a testament to the team of people designing and building Cessna's next generation of aircraft. It takes hard work and dedication to accomplish what this team has accomplished."
The newest Citation will have a range of 3,000 nm (3,452 statute miles). It features improved cabin cooling, Garmin G5000 avionics with auto throttles, and a new cabin management system. Winglets have been added to the New Sovereign, contributing to the increase range and enabling a direct climb to 45,000 feet. With a newly announced five year warranty package, the New Sovereign offers owners even greater value.

Is the overall wingspan longer with the wingtips? The picture makes it look like a really long wing...
How about Mmo, any faster?

Re: Cessna rolls out first production all new Sovereign Mar
I believe it adds approximately 4 feet of span. It already does have a very capable and long wing. The tips look great and bring the design into the modern day. I am still amazed that I can take off at gross on a 30 degree day from a 5000 ft strip...... use 60& of it.... climb directly to 41,000 do .78mach and fly for 2800 nm. Its an amazing airplane and id love to get my hands on this new version.flyer wrote:Is the overall wingspan longer with the wingtips? The picture makes it look like a really long wing...

MMO and Weights stay unchanged from what I was told. The engines put out very very slightly more thrust and I mean slight. 150lbs a side.

I bet that Garmin 5000 is sweet though the FMS screens looks like an Apple product
Re: Cessna rolls out first production all new Sovereign Mar
I'm sure I'm missing something here. How can the PR date and photo show a green airplane rolled out on March 04 and the next pic show a painted, N registered aircraft with pax on board. Surely Cessna is not the quick.

Re: Cessna rolls out first production all new Sovereign Mar
Good question, but the answer is, Cessna has two new Sovereign up and flying - that will not be delivered to customers, the 'green' aircraft is the 3rd 'upgraded' Sovereign and the 1st customer aircraft.
1. c/n 680-501 N681CS Cessna Test Aircraft
2. c/n 680-502 N682SS Cessna Test/Demo Aircraft *flight photos above
3. c/n 680-503 N603SV 'green photo above' first customer aircraft - just rolled out.

Thanks for the info. I knew there would be a plausible explanation. Looks really sweet.
