Just got an email saying that I'm in the pool. No medical date yet.
Fingers crossed.

Best thing for you wannabes is drowning in that pool.
Re: Air Canada Pool
how long do you have to wait after the medical to have any news? no news good news (medical point of view)
Re: Air Canada Pool
I read some of your previous posts and I am now thinking how good a job you must have done fooling those folks at WestJet that hired you, hats off to you. If they could only match up your anonymous profile on AvCaanda to your employee number. What a shame.Best thing for you wannabes is drowning in that pool.

How many more planned Pit courses for the rest of the year?

Re: Air Canada Pool
Is there anyone in the pool who interviewed in September or early October that hasn't been offered a course yet?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Air Canada Pool
Haha, is there anyone who has actually applied, interviewed, hired, trained, and flying on-the-line in less than about 17 years?!??
It seems from reading here that the process ain't quick!

Took me a long time to get a reply, but once things got rolling it was fairly quick.Johnny#5 wrote:Haha, is there anyone who has actually applied, interviewed, hired, trained, and flying on-the-line in less than about 17 years?!??

Created a profile for the first time sometime late 2009, then forgot about it.
Then in Feb 2012 after talking with a friend who was just hired I decided to update the resume and contact info etc.
Call for interview April 2012, medical a week later, and hired May 7 2012. Flying on line by mid July 2012.
BTW latest crew requirement bulletin shows 134 vacancies for the upcoming equipment bid.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Curious what those vacancies are if you care to share.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Looks like sim courses planned for four YVR 330 RP's and YYZ mainline 320 and LCC 319 spots for the april course. There is an equipment bid open at this time so nothing should be considered written in stone. The last few courses have been offered positions as 320 FO's in YYZ, YVR, and YUL, 330 RP's in YVR and YYZ, 777 RP's in YYZ and 767 RP's in YYZ and YVR. Consider all of those positions to be safe bets for entry level positions.
The EMJ FO job seems to have turned into the new Hotel California as the 175's are being transferred to SR.
Retirements seem to be half of what they used to be, until the 787's show up on the August bid things might seem a little slower, but as previously mentioned AC still has 134 vacancies to fill in the next 9 months.

Re: Air Canada Pool
If I recall well, last equipment bid showed 221 Open Pilot spots as of February-March.
The recent one is down to 134 right now.
From these figures seems like the hiring team is doing a great job.

Re: Air Canada Pool
They are busy, although they've only hired 40 people since the last bid leaving 47 spots unaccounted for in the new required pilot projection.
Not as many retirements as they thought unfortunately.

Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually have.[1] Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie.[1]
Hypocrisy is not simply failing to practice those virtues that one preaches.
Millions spent telling a few to go away and then, OH now it's OK for me to fly on as the law has changed,

Lesson learned fellow posters:
Don't use the 'R' - word. There are people here that troll the forum for it's mere mention, and spew their diarrhea as soon as it is even murmured in any context. Please refrain.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Where are the medicals done and what do they consist of? (anything different than the standard CAT1's?)
Re: Air Canada Pool
The 787 is the reason for the reduced numbers, the company has to have 2 crews trained at one time. The 787crews and the crews that are replacing them on their old equipment. When the 787 program is back up I'm sure you will see the additional numbers in the pilot requirements?

Re: Air Canada Pool
The change in crewing requirements does have to do with (lack of) retirements. During previous bid 13-01 thirty-seven positions were added as a cushion due to pilots being able to delay committing to a Dec 2013 retirement date. Now that the deadline for that has passed they have adjusted according to actual retirements.
