Re: Whiteout in the logbook?
I'm not sure that there is a reg against using whiteout in a personal log, is there?
Just dont use it in the Journey log. It's strictly verboten by CAR 605.93(5) and has a maximum fine of $1000 to the individual responsible, per whiteout blob. TC definitely does care about whiteout in Journey Logs or Technical Records....So does your PRM, your QA guy, Contrail, etc...

I suspect when it comes right down to it, TC cares more that you're not falsifying your logs. If you're fixing typos, and it's clear by adjacent entries that it must have been a typo, i'd be surprised if you would be in any danger of a fine. Maybe, just maybe, for a commercial operator... But unlikely for a private owner.
Re: Whiteout in the logbook?
Funny, I was wondering when someone would bring that up. Personally, I keep paper copies of both my personal and airframe log, for sentimental reasons... Airplanes and pilots always had paper logs, as long as I can remember. But I also have a spreadsheet that copies the paper logs word-for-word. If I lose the paper ones somehow, i'm still covered.
With all the worry about whiteout, nobody seems to be concerned that you can falsify digital logs a heck of a lot easier.
