Help with identifying where photo was taken

Post by Billie T. »

Hello Again Everyone,

Attached is a photo of the late Merv Langille standing in front Otter CF-GBX. I'm hoping someone can identify where the photo was taken by remembering the red and white building in the background.

And while this may seem like a recording, "Thank you for all your help."

I don't know where it was filmed but notice the picture is reversed because the prop is going the wrong way and so is registration on tail

Can't help you on location either, but I did find that both plane and pilot are mentioned in this thread on Superior Airways/Severn Enterprises :

There's lettering over the door in other photos. It could have been added/removed since/before the photo was taken though.

Thank you to "culver 10", "Grimey" and "Rank 10".

The more I look at their posts, the more I believe that they are correct. It is Kapuskasing.
Thanks again everyone. And "culver 10", you might want to change your name to "Eagle Eye".

The paint scheme on the Otter looks like Survair from the 70's

Looks like this could be Armstrong as these were buildings that were used on the pine tree radar line
And they were all similar .The one at Armstrong has been torn down.

Hello Again Everyone,

A number of people on the AVCANADA forum believe that the photo that I posted was "backwards" or flipped. With this in mind, I have now posted the same photo after I flipped it in Photo Shop. Hopefully, this will make it easier to determine where the photo was originally taken.

As you can see by some of the posts, some people believe that the photo was taken at the Kapuskasing Airport. Others have emailed me or posted that they believe that it may be Armstrong.

Unfortunately, as "Baron" pointed out, the building at Armstrong has been torn down.

So now I'll try to find some old photos of the building in Armstrong.

Thanks again for everyone's help. I believe that "the jury is still out" on this one.
