Re: Encore news
Well, I know for a fact that they are now hiring 3500 hour King Air Captains to grace the left seat of the Q's. It shouldn't be surprising considering the WACON. You truly do get what you pay for! Congrats to WJA for setting the bar even lower.

Re: Encore news
I was wondering when they would announce these routes. One more example of west jet losing routes to encore. I wonder which routes WJ will lose next.
Re: Encore news
Flyer, Westjet didn't have those routes, so they can't lose them to Encore can they?

Re: Encore news
Ahramin,
Sorry Bro you are wrong, West jet dropped the routes because they couldn't make a profit with the '37s. I suggest that you reread the article.

Re: Encore news
So because Westjet used to do those routes 4 years ago, it means that they have lost those routes to Encore? Am I missing something? When Westjet lost those routes Encore wasn't even an idea.
Re: Encore news
10 37' leases going back?
I think I just heard that somewhere too.....

Re: Encore news
I've heard that Westjet's aircraft deliveries often coincide with lease ends. They can either renew the lease and grow the fleet, or not renew and keep the fleet the same size. Can't grow forever.

Re: Encore news
So, if the music stops at west jet then it will be a long wait for a flow thru over to the main line.
Re: Encore news
Here's a story from earlier this year:
http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articl ... 0s-385552/
They're basically selling off 10 older 737s and ordering 10 new ones.
I don't see Westjet putting the brakes on growth any time soon. Just last month they announced new flights to Hawaii. Right now they are mostly concentrating on Encore, but I expect they will also bring on new 737 routes in the future. Just look at the finances - they just announced their best quarter ever. They are cautious and don't want to grow too quickly, which is good.
I am scratching my head slightly at some of the Encore routes, but I'm hoping there is some method in their apparent madness.

Don't feed the troll.
Note to anyone outside of WJ: There are already predetermined base moves from WestJet to Encore. Yes - it's going to happen and don't stand on your soapbox and say "Aha! I told you so". At the same time of these transitions, WestJet will be growing with new routes, new cities, and increased frequency.

Re: Encore news
pay new employees less money. make biggest quarterly profit ever. love it!they just announced their best quarter ever.
Re: Encore news
If you are referring to Encore when mentioning "pay new emloyees less money", the last quarterly announcement was the first quarter (Jan to Mar). Encore wasn't even up and running so therefore has no contribution to that quarter. Please, know what you are talking about before typing otherwise you will just look like an a**.
Re: Encore news
Doesn't matter dude! That's not my point. Who is funding the start up of Encore? Who owns Encore?
You're telling me that WJ spent ZERO money in the last year getting this massive operation up and running? But yes I'll make sure not to factor any of that in until the 3rd quarter results are released. I'll keep that in mind when WJ announces next quarter results next week. Cheers bud. I'm out.

Re: Encore news
What makes you think any of the startup costs of Again will show up in Westjet's reports? If they are paying cash for everything, then the cash reserves will go down, but it's likely that it's all financed and very little of it will show up until it makes money. Modern day accountants for public companies are not in the Bob Cratchit business of counting numbers, they are in the creative business of managing the financial appearance of the company.
Re: Encore news
Legacy, would this show up in the first quarter?
DH772,
All tier 3 bases (YQT, YQB, YQU, YXX, etc.) are Encore bases since they will eventually be served by WJE.

Is there any particular time frame from the time your application is received to the time you get called for an interview?

Re: Encore news
I'd say it's probably slow right now for summer, and everybody is on vacation... after that, it would be dependent on your experience, and quality/ quantity of References (just my opinion).
Re: Encore news
it summer and everyone's on vacation???? Isn't everyone NEW there? Isn't there a new airline to run?
Re: Encore news
Yes were returning 10 old 700's for 10 new 800's.
Were not losing routes although we will. Which is fine because those will be the routes that were bleeding on. Frees up the tails for greater frequency and/or new sun destinations. When the regional is fully operational we will see about a 14% increase in 737 flying or so I've heard.
