This sounds like quite the odessey you're on
Not really. Central Texas back to eastern ontario in
12 flight hrs - two 3 hr legs on each of two days.

First leg, LLano TX to Hot Springs, AR. Fun little airport,
sort of in a bowl of hills surrounds by towers. Second
leg was to just south of Indianapolis, IN. RON at KBMG.

Third leg, to CYXU to clear customs. Fourth leg, to
eastern Ontario.

Pretty easy trip with an STEC 65 in the panel, which
was actually installed by a currently incarcerated bank
robber (previous owner). You don't often see altitude
preselect in a fixed-gear, fixed-pitch prop single. At
least, I don't.

That was a pretty relaxed flight compared to what I've got
lined up next.

PS 100LL in London (CYXU) was well over $2/liter. Not
far off twice the price in Texas, which had a very well
appointed FBO and two crew cars. FBO in London had
no crew cars or any transportation available at all.

I pay $1.75/liter at home, which I think is scandalous.

Mogas was less than 90 cents a liter in the USA.

Tax: Yanks pay around 11% tax on fuel...Canucks 33% I think ( mogas )

Bigger market :sell 1000 shoes a day for two bucks a pair ...20 shoes a day market= ten bucks a pair

Canada is a collection of outposts separated by long, expensive to maintain highways, and less used airfields. (maybe)

Canada is the only oil exporting country with no real energy policy .

This, combined with article 605 of of NAFTA and similar ,means Canada doesn't actually own any oil ( i.e-you think you own a house...but someone else tells you to get out every day at ten, lights off at 8pm, mow the grass to one inch every week....etc..who really owns the house ? [ NAFTA dictates that we can't decrease the southward flow of oil, or jack the price ].Most Canadians still think Canada owns some oil.

One theory maintains that when you buy fuel, you're really buying it in American dollars, the nice fuel dealer invisibly converts your blue five dollar bill for you.
Ostensibly, all hydrocarbons on the planet, with a few exceptions ( Evil Empires© ] are traded in U.S dollars.

I paid $1.62 ( Central Alberta ...$1.57 the tank before ). I fly about 100 hours a year for fun...I never really added up my annual fuel bills...just pay them like a light bill...between $4000 to $5000 I'd guess . Only about five to 8 steers.

Or Probably equivelant to two Sunday afternoons in an L39... (:

The thought just crossed my mind that any one able read this post is among the richest 1% of humans on the planet.
Go flying at least two hours a week.
