Hearing test, eye exam, urine test (drugs), blood test (drugs and liver function tests), electrocardiogram and the usual poking prodding of the Cat 1. Its done at an Air Canada medical office and takes about an hour.Regs587 wrote:Where are the medicals done and what do they consist of? (anything different than the standard CAT1's?)

No Diarrhea here "snag" but this coming from you speaks volumes of it !! NWsnag wrote:Lesson learned fellow posters:
Don't use the 'R' - word. There are people here that troll the forum for it's mere mention, and spew their diarrhea as soon as it is even murmured in any context. Please refrain.
Now back to discussing the Air Canada Pool.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Snag and others last time I checked you can use the "R" word anytime you want!
If NW and others from the "fly till ya die" crowd jump in on a thread let them. Do not engage them in anyway as this is what they desire I.e. to spin you up.
Once they see their favourite hobby horse is ignored they will snivel and whine and eventually disappear into the shadows
For the new people trying to start their career at Air Canada yes it has changed but it is still a great place to be and always remember if you are given a lemon make lemonade

Meaning there would be no GS in May?SgtStroka wrote:Any word about a June 14 GS? Been kinda quiet here. Maybe everyone was hired!
Re: Air Canada Pool
The last I heard was that the next groundschool was tentatively May 27.
Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Air Canada Pool
this is correct " ...the tentative date for may is may 27.." we should get more news by the end of april.
(if the 27 of may is a go, next gs would not be before the end of june or even beginning of july I think)

Re: Air Canada Pool
I was recently in the training building. Word there is one class per month until November, at the least. Some classes will be smaller than last year, but hiring continues.

To add to the speculation, was just talking to someone in the current new hire class (14 people) and they were told next month there would be a class of 12 people and then 20 a month after that. They're backed up with the training since everyone is going on the 320.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Anyone know if calls have started for the May course yet?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Air Canada Pool
well.. look like the hiring will slow down this summer
Re: Air Canada Pool
Why do you think that?
Still 100+ spots open from last bid, and a trickle of retirements increasing the need. The days of 'Summer off' are a thing of the past. The training footprint I've seen shows 330rp 767rp and 777rp as well as LCC F/O spots, and as stated 320.
Training is the only impediment, and the 787s haven't even shown up on the bid yet.
Chins up, the music hasn't stopped yet.....

Im thinking Calvie got the email. When did you interview if you don't mind me asking Clavie? Music is not stopping, just slowing down, for now.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Were there any interviews in January of this year? Or were they sorting out the new job posting?

Re: Air Canada Pool
Out of curiosity, how does it work for awarding jobs to guys/girls in the pool? Let's say 10 jobs open up, would they take the 10 applicants who have been in the pool the longest, or would they take the top 10 highest scoring applicants out of the pool, regardless of how long they've been swimming?

They call the guys in the pool in order of their interview date.
Re: Air Canada Pool
News for those of you sitting in the pool or interviewing:
Due to retirements now slowing to a virtual standstill, the last 4 people have been hired for the summer. Groundschools to tentatively resume in late October.

But you can go to Sky and fly the same plane for nickels! I think I want to puke every time I see the E175 now in EXPRESS colors. Sorry, just had to rant.
