CTKZ - ??? Weekend Flight Reccomendations?
Hey Everyone,
After moving to Toronto I'm now flying out of Buttonville. I have access to a plane for about 5 hours in the next few days and I'm wondering if anyone would share some suggested locations for a flight/trip/excursion.
Since getting my license I've been to Waterloo, Guelph, Brantford, Tilsonburg, Owen Sound, Edenvale, Collingwood, Wiarton, Killarney, Parry Sound, Sudbury, and Saulte Ste. Marie. Any recommendations for other airports worth popping into? I figure with 5 hours, and roughly 100kt cruise speeds I'm good for a max 1.5 hr each way outta Toronto.
While not mandatory, a decent meal upon arrival at the destination is always a fun proposition.
Thanks!

Go to the Loose Moose - Delicious chicken wings!

CYGK - Kingston for dinner.
Get a cab downtown - ask for the arch. Boats,
marina, lots of good restaurants.
Get a cab back to the airport and fly home at night.
There used to be good tarts at Lindsay. Not sure
if that's still the case.

Now Now CS, that's no way to talk about the young ladies of Lindsay.

The cafe was still there a few months ago. They still have butter tarts, but not being a butter-tart person, I can't tell a good one from a bad one. They have a typical cafe menu with salads, sandwiches and home-made dishes.Colonel Sanders wrote:There used to be good tarts at Lindsay. Not sure

Plan to fly over downtown at night. Very nice view.

Head down to Niagara Falls at night, they light them up before midnight, you can have a look at the downtown strip. Even during the day is fun, you can cross the border and check out some of USA and have a meal. Depends if you mean 5 hours flight time or 5 hours duration before the plane has to be back. Make sure you have the VFR circuit printed out for the falls, not too much in terms of food around there if you got to be back quickly.

http://www.buttonvilleflyingclub.com/ unfortunately the site is offline until May 3, but you can pose your question to the largest flying club in Canada also based at Buttonville.
On weekends their always off to some destination together - but I'm sure they'll have some interesting suggestions for you.

There are many different receipes. My current favoritenot being a butter-tart person, I can't tell a good one from a bad one
is the butter tarts from "Stevens" in North Gower, just
south of Ottawa on Roger Stevens road. I was referred
there by a BT-67 pilot.
The crust is amazing, and so is the filling. Try them,
if you're passing through!

CYSN / Niagara-on-the-Lake Airport to the Old Town section of NOTL is ten minutes; ... ever decide to give it a try you call Classic (Niagara) Cabs, located close ... in Virgil, just three minutes away.Krimson wrote:.... not too much in terms of food around there if you got to be back quickly.
