Re: Ice out
Been out only a week here in Huntsville, heard there's still a few lakes in Algonquin with ice as of the other day.... but this isn't "north". Also waiting for reports.

Re: Ice out
I've got a friend in Dryden who was ice fishing this week. Still 2 feet (0.6 m) of ice.
He figures it will be June before he puts his boat in the water.

Re: Ice out
perhaps not totally relevant to this topic, but I heard that there 5 feet of ice on Paint Lake near Thompson. Depression reigns supreme. I may be flying by...August?
Re: Ice out
Still lots in the YTS area hopefully it will be gone by the May run

Re: Ice out
Still ice fishing... and still need an auger extension.
It's gonna be a late start.

Re: Ice out
Still two feet on lake Winnipeg north of Matheson I've been told. Inland rivers are flowing but smaller lakes are still white.

Re: Ice out
a cottager friend of mine says that where there is current there is open water but other wise still frozen. But that was a few days ago before this current heat wave.

Was up in yth on the 14thcloudrunner wrote:Any update on the ice conditions in Flin Flon and/or Thompson?

Burntwood was open with most lakes breaking up
Sipiwesk, Cross, Ospwagan, Landing had ice on them but was only a week from full open on most of them given the temps that we've had.
Water levels are only a little higher than early summer levels
Just a trace of snow here and there in the bush
Could be a dry one up there

Re: Ice out
Ice is just about out here in Red Lake. Only a little bit left in the south end of howey bay but with the winds and temperature should be out by the end of the day.
Re: Ice out
Ice out to Marker 1 in Yvc.
2 miles at the best but rivers have not peeked, so water rudders, not props. Great fucking fishing, barbless.
Bring beer, hooks and ego.
SMcL.
just the way Canada does.

Re: Ice out
Just heard yesterday the float base (Stewart Lake) in Kuujjuaq is now clear of ice. Waiting for confirmation further to the north.

Re: Ice out
Ha, here in BC it's based on elevation. The lakes at the bottom of the valley have been free of ice since Apr 1st, but the alpine lakes at the 7,000 foot level still have a month to go!
