sporty's e6-b

Post by DEFPOTEC »

hi everyone,

Would anyone in the winnipeg area be willing to lend a sporty's electronic e6-b for a week? I've fallen out of currency and need to re-right the INRAT! It would be a big help!

Thanks!

Even if I could find it someplace in my dusty basement-a week?
No way-I paid $80 for mine, and only used it twice.

You can borrow my dog for a week-but not in duck hunting season, or my wife for two weeks as long as you promise not to try to teach either one any new tricks.

unfortunately that's the type of response I thought I'd get, flaming just to flame, not very helpful. I was, however, hoping I'd get a few of the other type of responses.

I spent $80 too long ago and was hoping us aviators could help each other out. You obviously don't think it was fair to have shelled out that cash only to use it twice and I expect that if you were in need, payed your dues, you'd hope someone would dust off the resource they haven't used for years and extend it to you.

One of my last posts in 2008 was an offering to anyone my library of aviation related material for free with the only 2 requirements being they pick it up from my house, and pass it on when they're done.

We're supposed to be a community. When we start acting like it, everything will get better!

....but whatever

Is it so important to have an electronic one? I'm not trying to be snide or flame-y. I had an electronic one and was too stupid to function-check it before my instrument written. Luckily I had my steam-powered one and necessity being the mother of, well, smartness I guess, I made do and did OK much to my surprise. It comes back to you. I carry one around now out of sheer superstition and occasionally whip it out to calculate stuff while I'm bored and the F.O. is steering.

Good luck on the test.

You're right, it shouldn't matter but the last time I used the electronic one was 10 years ago and the metal one probably 15 years ago. I think given the choice and short notice, I'd fair better with the electronic gizmo. Could be wrong though, don't really want to do this exam again in the first place!

Well, good news: It's easier now than it was when you and I wrote it. For instance, you don't need to interpret the shorthand FA anymore and draw it on acetate: It's drawn for you now. And if you make a mistake, it doesn't translate down the line and ruin the whole exam like it used to, either. But I understand you want to do your best. I wish I had an electronic one to lend you, but I'm sure somebody will. North Shore is a good guy, he'll come through.

Good luck.

I'd lend you mine but im in Toronto. Not worth shipping back and forth. But, If you have someone who flies between cities I'd be happy to drop it off with them.
