In all seriousness though, the bid isn't out yet.

Re: Any hiring news?
Bid will be out in August. Already a memo out about captain downgrades but there will be lots of hiring of FOs. Just don't expect a left seat in the next decade or so if you get hired here!
Re: Any hiring news?
Inverted, do the downgrades have anything to do with Jazz loosing routes to Sky Regional? If yes, are you loosing routes at a steady ongoing pace? How does the future look like at jazz apart from becoming a revolving door for FOs?
Re: Any hiring news?
There won't be any downgrades at all by the time some or all of the mitigation tools available are utilized. Furthermore, things are not measured in terms of routes or number of airplanes; it's all about block hours. As larger a/c replace smaller ones, frequency goes down a bit. SR may do some previous QK routes and vice versa, just like some routes are seasonally exchanged by mainline and the regionals.
Re: Any hiring news?
The real answer to the question is Yes, Jazz is losing ground.
Expect it to continue until they become as lean as SR.
7 year Jazz FO's are leaving to go direct entry Captain at SR on the jet.
They know staying at Jazz will be one nasty ride.

Re: Any hiring news?
The trend is fairly clear notwithstanding the equipment substitutions that have been agreed to thus far between AC and CHR. And that trend is likely to continue either consensually or otherwise as WJ Encore further establishes itself in the domestic market. I believe that the floor is 331,000 block hours with a gross margin guarantee based on an annual targeted minimum of 367,000 block hours (from an all time high in the vicinity of 410,000 billable block hours circa 2008). However, there are also clauses that permit further reductions if AC domestic market share declines. Likely there will be public disclosure on this topic on the CHR Q2 analyst call. The analysts always ask for block hour guidance. CHR will need to be prepared to answer the questions.biatch wrote:There won't be any downgrades at all by the time some or all of the mitigation tools available are utilized. Joe has been pretty quiet lately too. No one seems to be held accountable for the 15 million lost with the Pluna disaster either. Hopefully CHR gets some competent management in to fix this place and mend the relationship with AC but I'm not holding my breath.
Re: Any hiring news?
What you guys are trying to say is that Jazz doesn't look like a career move right now like it used to be..So we could expect a lot of movement from FOs leaving the ship, thus making positions available to new FOs but this has nothing to do with growth or attrition. As of now, Would you guys recommend your friends to make the move to Jazz in all honesty?
Re: Any hiring news?
Still a great place to work, don't get me wrong but you won't likely see the company grow and if your goal is the left seat it might not be the place to go to. Decent pay, great benefits, excellent training, well maintained aircraft and great people to work with.
Re: Any hiring news?
Right on, thanks! is there a chance Jazz could disappear one day, or it's "just" a matter of losing a few routes to SR?
When does the agreement between AC and QK getting renegotiated/renewed?
Hard to get valuable information from the outside....

Re: Any hiring news?
I definitely wouldn't recommend coming to Jazz now. Pay cuts will be coming and people being hired now could be laid off down the road.
Re: Any hiring news?
Pay cuts? Not a chance. Little to no increases more than likely. Than again, we are the highest paid regional aircraft pilots in the country.Stinky wrote:I definitely wouldn't recommend coming to Jazz now. Pay cuts will be coming and people being hired now could be laid off down the road.
Block hour and pilot roster reductions? Maybe as Jazz transitions to less but larger aircraft with reduced frequency on some routes.
Jazz up and disappearing anytime soon, severely doubt it.
There will always be a need for FOs as people leave for bigger iron but most captains are here to stay.
Re: Any hiring news?
When are Jazz pilots due back to the negotiating table?
Re: Any hiring news?
Current contract ends 2015 with negotiations to start sometime before that.

Based on this post of yours onetreehill,
You might want to look out for your own icebergs, I wonder how much flying of Westjet mainline's, Encore will be flying next year. Don't worry though, I'm sure they will let you flow down. That's what I went through. Now I'm at WJ. Best thing that ever happened to me.
