Re: TSB at site of downed Cessna 185-SW Mount Forrest ON Jul
I'm assuming this is a 2nd accident from yesterday.

Story and photos click here
Two men from Holland, walked away from a small plane crash southwest of Mount Forest with only a few scratches.
Wellington OPP say the 57 year old and 24 year old men, who are father and son, were trying to make an emergency landing around 3 Thursday afternoon (July 25th).
They clipped a stop sign and a hydro pole, with the small Cessna plane getting entangled in the wires.
The plane was heavily damaged, and left dangling from one of the overhead wires on the 8th line of Minto just west of Wellington Road 6.
The two men were treated at the scene by Guelph Wellington EMS.
Minto Fire department and Hydro One were also on-scene.
Wellington OPP closed off roads in the rural area between Mount Forest and Minto (Harriston) for a few hours while they investigated.

Sorry the link above has pics and say its a Beech.

Do you really think a reporter would be smart enough to make the mistake of seeing an inverted low wing aircraft and accidently thinking it was a high wing cessna? In the medias eyes, anything smaller than an airliner is a cessna.

The Cessna TTX is a low wing single. But....the airplane in that photo doesn't quite look like a TTX. Cessna acquired the design from Lancair from their Columbia. The first variant was called a Cessna 400 then the TT Corvallis.
Definitely not a typical Cessna single. Especially when you consider the newest variant is officially the fasted FAA-certified fixed-gear, single-engined piston in production.
The airplane in the photo kind of looks like a Musketeer.

Or a Bonanza? Musketeer didn't have a tapered wng?CID wrote:The airplane in the photo kind of looks like a Musketeer.

Good point on the tapered wing. I don`t know all the variants of the Musketeer so I`m certainly not the expert on those. I don`t see many.
I didn`t think there were enough windows for it to be a Bonanza. But again, I don`t know all the variants.

According to ASN, it is a C35 Bonanza.
I wouldn't have guessed a Bonanza either, based on window count.

Most definetley a Bonanza. Muskateer had a different non retractable nose gear. Early Bonanzas did not have as many side windows.

Look closely at the pic and think of the last time you saw a V-tailed Musketeer.

The first two posts refer to two different accidents on the same day. The Cessna mentioned was near Keswick (Simcoe county IIRC), while the Beech was near Mount Forest (Wellington County). Unfortunately too many prangs in the same province on the same day!
(The linked article refers to a Beechcraft, so somebody did a little research)

Do you mean one that hasn't crashed and ended up upside-down in a ditch? None.

I didn't write my last post very well. That was meant to say "either reporter, or someone else mistaking high to low wing."
Kind of looks like a "smoshed tail" now.CID wrote:lownslow wrote:Look closely at the pic and think of the last time you saw a V-tailed Musketeer.

My thoughts exactly... or at least well paraphrased.Do you mean one that hasn't crashed and ended up upside-down in a ditch? None.
Kind of looks like a "smoshed tail" now.
