Colt flight planning weather alternative

Post by Carlito »

We use Colt international trip support and are generally happy with the services they provide. However on a recent trip throughout Europe and Asia their weather information was way off... Specifically forecasted temperature at altitude ..forecasted was isa +5 actual was isa +30. Our fuel burn was substantially more than expected. I understand that it is just a forecast but you'd expect it to at least be in the ballpark.

I'm looking for a cheap international website/program or subscription where I can access that type of weather information myself as a sort of back up. Something like fltplan.com but worldwide. I was hoping foreflight but don't know much about it.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

universalweather.com

No issues in Asia, Europe, Russia etc.... Not sure how cheap it is though. Generally thought of as one of the big players in the field.

Switching from CCX to UWX would not have resolved this particular issue.
