Crop Dusting

Compare to Richmond Hill idiot, whom I understand
people here want to ban-for-life from flying.

What would you do to this guy?

What are the regs for crop dusting near power lines?

Ban for life is dumb. Do we ban people from driving again after they pull one stupid move? No, they get punished and hopefully learn their lesson for next time. If he has had a history of this type of behaviour then perhaps a ban is the right move.

Cannot see a thing wrong with what this professional crop sprayer is doing with his AgCat. He obviously has surveyed the area carefully and knows where every line is because that is what the pros do.
Richmond Hill guy was probably a spur of the moment idea over a built up area.

1) He is in compliance with most of CAR 602.14

2) He is exempt from the other parts of CAR 602.14 by CAR 602.15.

Can't really say the same thing for the Cessna Ace.

I just hope the Toronto police don't see the
video and lay criminal charges.

In the context of the CARs ... the litmus test
for CAR 602.01 is - would a "prudent pilot"
do that? In this specific case, repeatedly fly
under power lines? Obviously not - therefore
this is a CAR 602.01 violation.

I would be too chicken to be a crop-duster pilot. I have bad dreams occasionally where for some reason I am flying down a road below the level of the trees that are on either side, and I can't go up either because the trees are too bushy overhead or there are power lines above. Sometimes I manage to get above the power lines only to find more power lines above the first ones. An alternate dream is the same except I am trying to fly down streets in a city with tall buildings and can't go up because of power lines. I always wake up right at the moment of death.

I hate those dreams and that's why I could never be a crop-duster pilot. And don't even get me started on dodging asteroids. That ain't like dusting crops, boy.

Guy is doing nothing wrong. Why has " Crop Dusting" become a bad profession. Delta Airlines started with Crop Spray Pilots. Grass routes flying, at it's best, and nothing wrong with it. It's just not a job for the weak of heart, and not for everyone. But..hats off to em.

The difference here is clear, no? Not a single camera phone wielding, expert witness in sight.

Ahh... that explains the oversupply of breadcrumbs, minnows and rolls of carpet.

I think DeuceEng was referring to the 172 display, not the crop duster. I wouldn't say that the 172 kid knew what he was doing! At least I presume he wasn't aware of how foolish it was.

The farmer should be the one buying him a beer!

If a customer of mine shows up with a field like that I tell them to do it with the ground rig!

Awesome flying skills though!

That's awesome!

If dusting didn't involve working in close proximity with highly toxic
chemicals, I'd probably have a couple of my own videos out there.
