N512JT Gulfstream 5 (Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment)
So this GV has all the Maple Leaf sports and entertainment logos (Leafs, Raptors, Marlies, FC), and the Airliners data base has it all over Canada and the world in it's US registration. So my question is how does a Canadian corporation fly a US registered aircraft while clearly operating for a Canadian corporation??
So is this president setting, could I have my Canadian company aircraft registered down in the US and operate it here in Canada according to the FARS etc?

US Registration search, Wells Fargo owns the pink slip obviously financed through them.

Shall I alert Gilles to this? Seriously I am curious how this arrangement works?

Re: N512JT Gulfstream 5 (Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainmen
I'm not sure how the whole process works, but keep in mind just because it is US registered doesn't mean it isn't flown by Canadian pilots. I know of Canadians flying US registered aircraft based in Canada. Nothing standing in the way of a Canadian pilot, and AME for that matter, obtaining FAA credentials.
As for why the corporation would register the A/C in the US over Canada, I would assumed MLSE also has a corporate registration in the US, so therefore had a choice of where to register it, and wanted to avoid some HST, or other tax? Maybe it's the fact that Part 91 has less onerous compliance requirements than TC CARS 604 ( no need for op specs, etc)? I'm sure there are other reasons too.

My sources must be wrong then.....
Re: N512JT Gulfstream 5 (Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainmen
A few years ago my buddy was an AME on one based in Canada (Southwestern Ontario) and I seem to think that it was flying an N Registration and I think we had the conversation of flying an N Tail # in Canada). The pilots were Canadian. The answer was that the aircraft was not type rated by Canada. I can not remember exactly but thats what I think he said. It was operated by an aircraft management company. It may have been a G550.
Fly safe all.
