One could use those as a totally useless yet cool excuse to go on a leisurely cross country (literally), with the simple goal of seeing how many arrows you can spot along the way. Kinda like trying to drive the original Route 66.

If the arrows only point in one direction, how would they find their way back ? :o

DO WANT! The second I saw this I was thinking that. Not sure if I'm adding it to the bucket list or not.

It would stand to logic that they would make two rows of arrows, one eastbound, one westbound. Otherwise, you might hit your colleague meeting you going the other way, both head down, watching for the arrows.

As the arrows only point one direction, you could fly out and drive back... two ticks off the list!

They might have had a rule to stay on the right side of the arrows. I think I could remember if I wanted to follow them to Cali or go backwards to New York.

If they all pointed west it would be also helpful when your compass was frozen.

Each arrow had a beacon tower mounted on the square pad portion of the arrow.

Thanks for that link pelmet. I wish I knew about them when I was in Utah. I would have looked for at least one possibly. I'm thinking of painting one yellow. I need $7billion and and airplane, then I could fix them up in a few places.
