Shell Aircraft YYC shutdown
Hello
I know a lot of us have been affected by shutdowns and Furloughs during our careers. For myself it was a post like this that helped me find a job when it hit me last.
Unfortunately after 60 years of providing safe, efficient and professional service, the 23 employes that made up the corporate flight department of Shell Canada have now lost there jobs.
For those of you in a hiring position please consider members of this team.
Regards

If that is true, The race to the bottom is broadening it's scope. Very discouraging news.Donald wrote:I heard Flair just signed a long term contract to do their flying...

I haven't seen any related posts on this.
Is this a sudden situation, or was the writing on the wall?
I hope these folks find work soon, you never know when the end is near

Last time Flair worked for Shell they earned the nickname " Scare Airlines " from the passengers.
Re: Shell Aircraft YYC shutdown
Seeing Shell's 5 Falcon jet's on the YYC ramp today has got to add insult to injury. Reminiscent of the major automotive executives rolling up to Washington asking for their bailout money in a way.
Sad indeed......

Wow, a company with such high aviation standards sourcing out to a low standard company. The almight dollar trumps safety again. The race to the bottom indeed.

Low standards? Spoken without a clue. Shell wouldn't outsource to a company that wouldn't meet their standards.tincanflyer wrote:Wow, a company with such high aviation standards sourcing out to a low standard company. The almight dollar trumps safety again. The race to the bottom indeed.
Re: Shell Aircraft YYC shutdown
Too bad they didn't offer the displayed Shell employees a position. Recent experience on aircraft, currentFlair job ads are up. I'm sure the pay is fantastic....

My guess is that they did, only at a greatly reduced salary.kevind wrote:Too bad they didn't offer the displayed Shell employees a position. Typed, currentFlair job ads are up. I'm sure the pay is fantastic....

HAHA, really. Dollars talk when the oil sands profit is low these day and media visibility is high. Low Standards???? Old aircraft, poor pay, the nickname Scare Air, undercutting everyone in the industry just to get work. Sounds like a bottom feeder to me. Guessing you work there and love being off the King Air.
