Good day,

Thanks for the input MRP.

I thought the LCC positions were all going to be in YYZ. But from what I can see it looks like there is going to be some LCC pilots in YUL as well...? Confirm...?

Cheers,

T.

The previous vacancies are included in the new total.
Hilton wrote:Someone mentioned the vacancies advertised in a bid are for 6 months advance, Does this "release'' mean there will be courses for 56 newbies over the next 6 months?
The equipment bid is a 'snapshot' of how much flying is projected roughly 6 months down the road. However, there is a bid every 2 months so the exact numbers fluctuate. The crew manning department can also fudge the numbers on one bid or the next to prevent pilots from being forced out of positions which are being reduced, so the 'snapshot' is a little fuzzy at times. The crew manning and hiring departments do talk together and coordinate just how many pilots will be required. It sounds somewhat impersonal, but think of a new pilot position like Just-in-time-inventory, and the longer the company waits to start a ground school the more precisely they can be to matching requirements.

Termerair, yes there were vacant positions in YUL as detailed by MRP.

Fanblade, November GS, looks like I get to keep that next Tim's card.

LCC positions in YUL is a HUGE and pleasant surprise. Hope to see more of these in the future.
Do you know if YUL actually is a planned base for the LCC?

It's also good to see that there are some mainline positions. Now let's see what's gonna be offered at the November GS.

With the new contract, jobs are now spread along the base of all FO and Rp positions. This will mean longer stagnation in junior positions, especially with "60" no gone.

My opinion, the LCC will be the place to be. Socialized scheduling....The guy who choses something else may see reserve for a long time...

From a pilot's perspective, it's one and the same. Your position and company will be determined in initial groundschool by seniority based on what spots are available.

There are some rumors people aren't getting called by interview date and the question was brought up and never answered... Can someone confirm the guys in the pool are still being contacted according to the interview date or has this changed for the next ground schools?

Are you serious?! I interviewed in November or December 2012 and was just offered a second medical, not a course date. What is that all about?! I though they were going by interview date?

They never did :D
It would be foolish to think otherwise.

How are you so sure of that? They would go by interview scores? It feels like I've been waiting a long time and know that there are people like Buzz who interviewed months before me who have just been doing that: taking deep breaths and waiting...

sure they don't go by date of interview.
I know several people who interviewed, and some of the latest interviewee got a medical earlier than others, and some later.
to summarize, it all depends and all bets are off.
good luck to all.

I think there is some 'pool' stirring going on here.

The update received in June or May(I think) outlined how the upcoming ground schools would be for those who interviewed in a sequential order. Why would they write that and then do something opposite.....I know what you might reply to that but the recruiting manager seems like an honest lady.

I spoke to the new recruiting manager and she also said the groundschools will be filled in order of interview date. She is very easy to talk to so if you are concerned something other than what you think is happening, call her.

Arcadia, in a previous post you said you interviewed in late April and now you interviewed in March?

What date in April or March? PM me.....

Anyone recently got a chance at a second interview? I originally did mine back in Jan 2012 and got the "please reapply in 6 months" letter but since then have heard nothing. Been updating my profile every few months too. It seems like shortly after that time they started doing the pool-thing, but back then it was either yes or no.

Nope. Interviewed in April 2012. PFO'd in July 2012. Kept my profile up to date but no second chance yet.

I agree, sounds like a bit of trolling. I understand anything is possible but I highly doubt AC hr would ever state we'll hire you if you pass medical. Seems very unlikely they would do that. The medical is a big part and only valid for 6 months so I can't seem them making potential job offers.

Email went out to everyone in the pool a couple days ago. No real surprises, November course has been filled. They're still planning a January course of 10 new pilots, and planning for further courses in Feb and March, but unsure of class sizes right now.
