I did my first solo in that plane.
I wonder when they will run out of aircraft or insurance? They sure have a lot of crashes. I guess it is still a cheap source of labour for the Metros.

From first hand experience, it wouldnt surprise me in the least if it were a maintenance issue with this company... Once the young chap is all healed up and gets a few years of instructing and kissing the CFI's ass under his belt, he'll still be chomping at the bit for that coveted right seat on the metro... If he's smart/lucky this will open his eyes and he'll get his ass out of ylw.

Yes, agreed.
At the very least, aim for anything higher than the bottom of the barrel, and don't be a slave to do it.

Glad to hear the student is ok. Drove past the incident and was hoping for the best... Good news

Re: Cessna in Creek @ YLW
Always makes me sad to see little airplanes in distress like that. Once upon a time they left the factory shiny, new and full of promise, if they only knew about the hard lives some of them are destined to have.
Re: Cessna in Creek @ YLW
They typically go to the metro's and then on to the king air flying medivac and if all goes well and a seat opens up they may fly in the citation.
I did my PPL at SIFC and while their aircraft were not very nice cosmetically at the time I did feel that for the most part they were very well maintained. Lots of newer looking parts, door hinges, flap tracks, bolts etc.
They only have one steam gauge 172 left, one steam gauge 152 and 2 glass 172's.
This one will definitely not be fixed, both wings, firewall, prop strike an the fuselage is crumpled.

Ah bugger, that was my first solo plane too! Head down trying to set up for takeoff for a little too long maybe? The creek is a ways off the runway from what I remember...

cgartly care to share where you get your information? I know for FACT that not a single person has ever done that progression, not one ever. Do you have any other crap you would like to spew without knowing whats happening?cgartly wrote:They typically go to the metro's and then on to the king air flying medivac and if all goes well and a seat opens up they may fly in the citation.

What part are you saying is not possible or doesn't happen?
I suppose I missed a few steps.
PPL -> CPL -> Flight Instructor -> Metro Right Seat
I know of a few flight instructors at SIFC that have gone to the right seat of the metro, I also know of one highly talented individual that was offered a position on the King Air right seat prior to the Metro and unfortunately that did not work as he didn't mean some of the requirements BCAS had set.
Are you suggesting that Carson's metro FO's never move on to the King Air at some point (some being Captains on the metro first)?
The citations in a medevac role is somewhat new to Carson so I don't doubt that none of the citation pilots have been Metro/King Air pilots with Carson.

Re: Cessna in Creek @ YLW
If you wait a while, all the airplanes that youthat was my first solo plane
flew will be wrecked.
While a gearhead like me finds that supremely
depressing, it is not as bad as the many friends
that you will also lose along the way.
