YYT-DUB is 600nm shorter than YVR-OGG. Don't see why the inflight service should change one bit.

Plus the 4 hour flight from YYZ (can't imagine too many originating from YYT), plus fuel stop. Charge up that tablet/laptop and bring lots of sandwiches.

Does WJ not fly aircraft to Dublin for maintenance anyhow? Good idea selling seats on flight that would ferry otherwise.

missing the point a bit but nevertheless spoken like a shareholder I can respect that.......
I was under the impression they were going from yyz to dublin or is everything via yyt?
its a round about way to get across the pond but if its cheaper they will come.
AC did it a while back I think or was that from yhz?....anyway another layover spot hopefully its long enough that you can see the sights.

It's all via YYT. "Same plane" from YYZ. As I said, I don't think the service should change from standard WS just because it's Europe. There are people who fly YWG-YVR-Hawaii which is 8+ hours and they seem to be able to survive without a hot meal.

Chicago to Honolulu is operated by a United 777 with ovens.

-Seating near the front of the United Economy cabin
-Complimentary soft drinks, juices, tea, and freshly brewed coffee

ORD-HNL:

WestJet's Y+ is offering more for a shorter flight, even with cold food.

No maintenance being done in Dublin. Just Trois Riviere and Kelowna at the moment.

That is currently true.
This may change that though.

I can't imagine there'd be more than about an aircraft a week headed over to Ireland for maintenance.

It would be pretty interesting to generate a business case that had WJ fly 7x a week on sched in order to sell seats on a weekly ferry flight. Besides, if you think it through, there would still be ferry flights required at the beginning and end of the program.

I doubt one has much to do with the other.

Does it say anywhere that the modification will be done in Ireland. I would say more than likely it will be done on site in YYC. Pretty easy mod from what I understand.

YYZ-EIDW IS 2839nm
YYZ-YYT-EIDW IS 2920nm...so other than the fact you have to stop, that's only 10 min in cruise flight difference. Not so round about, really.
