Re: Air Canada Pool
The next newhire class may potentially have 4 LCC 767 FO spots, and 6 LCC 319 FO.
Re: Air Canada Pool
With another bid on tuesday there's no point trying to figure out what would be available yet really.snag wrote:The next newhire class may potentially have 4 LCC 767 FO spots, and 6 LCC 319 FO.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Could you tell us what the bid was showing by any chance? Thanks!DBC wrote: With another bid on tuesday there's no point trying to figure out what would be available yet really.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Showing 40 yyz vacancies, mix of lcc 767 & 319. After the bid closes my guess would be somewhere near a 10/30 split.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Yes but the last bid resulted in openings to many of the junior positions ie RP's. It ain't over til its over - the bid that is.

Re: Air Canada Pool
You'd take the number they needed on the previous bid, subtract any people hired in the previous 2 months, and then subtract that from the current forecast.arcadia wrote:Looks like 44 new hire positions on the Dec. bid, the Oct. bid had 57 I believe......so is that 101 new hire positions open now? Or is it just 44 new hire positions. Because they have only put approx. 16 through g/s since the Oct bid.
New bid forecast - (old bid - new hires) = net change in hiring requirements.
If it were to show zero, that means, obviously they need to finish hiring the training and hiring from the previous bid. No new need for pilots forecast.
If it were to show a positive number, that would mean that they forecast an additional number of pilots.
If it were to be a negative number, that means they're forecasting a decrease in hiring.

Re: Air Canada Pool
So one might say that this bid was some bad news for somebody sitting near the bottom of the pool around that 75 mark, with little growth or hiring expected over the next 2 years besides that 44?
Re: Air Canada Pool
arcadia wrote:O.K. So just to make sure I read you correctly. If there were 57 new hire positions Oct bid, 16 pilots put in a G/S for Nov. December bid shows 44 New hire positions...so does that mean there are 85 new hire positions???? Thanks!
The Bid shows 40 vacancies. New Hires should expect rouge A319 & and B767 FO positions in YYZ. However, one of the December new hires picked up a A319 FO spot in YUL. When this bid closes there may be a couple of vacant positions for 767 RP's and EMJ FO in YYZ but they likely will not be filled and removed on up coming bids. The latest I've heard is that the company is going to run classes of 10 until June (when hiring/training usually slows so everyone can be flying!). So excluding the January course, I guess that's 50 more pilots on board until next fall. But, as I mentioned that's just the latest rumour, and even if true, is subject to change.
Re: Air Canada Pool
I think you're still better off than people not in the pool at all. The bid is just a 12 month guesstimate. People still age, and the 787's will generate more openings as they arrive for several years to come. I don't see a total stop to hiring in the future (excl. another 9/11, sars, bee extinction etc). If the wait is driving you nuts, try other options in the interim. You never know what you'll find.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Not really.snag wrote:People still age, and the 787's will generate more openings as they arrive for several years to come.
With each B787 introduced to mainline a B767 is out the door to rouge. The E175s are gone. The A319 will continue to leave mainline for lower wages of rouge and retirement has essentially stopped since the abolition of mandatory retirement. The net result for the next 4 years is LESS Fins than present on the property and hundreds of jobs transferred to lower wages at rouge.

Lower pay, but way better schedule... and well worth the trade off...... Quite happy with the Rouge conditions. I could be reserve FO on 320..... (was for a bit) and work 18 days.... or 10-11 at Rouge for 300 bucks a month less take home. OH... and a fair share bid.... To me well worth the 300$ less in take home, and yes that is not counting any overtime.
And the 87's arriving will mean an increase in ACPA pilots... just cause you don't want to count them cause they won't be "mainline"... those 67's will go to Rouge and be flown by ACPA pilots.... which means more hiring.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Dec 2013 combined fleet is 193, in 2015 it's 206. The trickle of retirements will very slowly increase (at some point), as the elimination of retirements just delays the wave.
Re: Air Canada Pool
I'm glad you're enjoying rouge, but please keep in mind that "trade off" you feel you've made is coming at another (ACPA) pilots expense (pilots' who accumulated the seniority to hold the flying you're now enjoying) as the A319's transferred to rouge haven't created any new flying. I agree, flying at rouge is preferable to being junior at mainline, but not to being senior on the same type at mainline. Please don't take this as an attack on anyone at rouge as it's in the contract we're all stuck with, and I certainly can't blame anyone bidding to rouge looking to improve their lot in life, but this is a net loss for the group as a whole…unless you really think the airline was about to park all those fins and walk away from the leisure market...Skyhunter wrote:YYCFLYGUY

Re: Air Canada Pool
Hey Guys,
I got called by HR for the January 6th GS. I was wondering if someone knows what will be the position available? Any chances of being base in YUL? Rouge, mainline?
Thanks

Chances are pretty high it will be Rouge 319/767 YYZ.shootcue wrote:Hey Guys,
