YVR is getting new Wildlife Control Contractor 2014
Not sure about the details of new contractor but apparently it will be an Australian Company with a 2014 spring launch date.

Interesting. I haven't heard any complaints about the present contractor.

Believe the new contractor was chosen by RFP. They should have the contract for at least the next five years.ahramin wrote:Interesting. I haven't heard any complaints about the present contractor.

RFP. Request For Proposal process...Falcon FES that covers YYZ was a close contender...
Re: YVR is getting new Wildlife Control Contractor 2014
In my experience, replacing a good supplier with the lowest bidder every x years often leads to a shit show in the short run. But does it matter to YVR? If bird strikes go up for 6 month, is there a downside for the airport operator?

I thought this might prompt some outrage over outsourcing Canadian jobs. The Australian company will most likely be hiring the current wildlife officers one would hope!!!

That would be the likely scenario. They are familiar with YVR and already skilled at the job. They also don't just hand out Free Range 'D' AVOPs. Experience counts there. I can't see someone brand new getting one with less than a month of training at the very least.elvis wrote:I thought this might prompt some outrage over outsourcing Canadian jobs. When it went from the Commissionaires to ultimately Westguard there were a few that crossed over judging by the voices on the radio. Given the drastic difference in management under that switch, unless this new company is worse by miles then the same should occur. Don't know how Westguard is as an employer, but if they are as much of a gong show as their sister company (that provides security at YVR), then any change would likely be for the better...
Edit: A quick Google shows the new company to be Avisure Pty. (Avisure.com.au) They have a posting for people on Monster...
