Hi guys, Ive been reading this forum for years and don't comment very often, however today I felt compelled to do so. I happened to be in the line up today during the shitshow in Yvr. Prior to pushback we overheard a certain northern operator decline a spray with atc. Now we're not talking about a chance of frost but light to moderate snowfall with a lengthy taxi as well. It was so absurd it was almost comical. There was not one other aircraft outbound that was not in line for a type 4 spray. After our turn at the deice bay we ended up in line a few aircraft back from this guy. So ground notifies him that another aircraft who I assume to be Jazz who was immediately behind him, has stated that their tail is covered in snow. With a very reluctant reply and some other absurd comment about having no snow on his wings leaves the line up and heads back to the gate or the deice bay. Im not here to slag this particular operator
even though his decision making was a joke, but rather to commend the Jazz guys who reported it. It showed a lot of integrity and a genuine regard for safety. Spoke to the AC guys behind us who I happen to know later in the day and they couldn't believe what they were seeing also. Thx for speaking up guys.
Good on ya Jazz

If they were willing to do something so blatantly unsafe at a major, busy airport, one must wonder what they would do at an uncontrolled airport where no one is around.
I'm not for pointing fingers, violating, reporting, tattling, etc... however, I really hope someone takes the time to follow up with situations like this. It is unfortunate that there are those who lack the integrity to operate properly.

Hey!! Maybe Air Canada should consider that certain "northern operator" for its new group of CPA carriers...

If they are willing to operate for peanuts I am sure they will....Canoehead wrote:Hey!! Maybe Air Canada should consider that certain "northern operator" for its new group of CPA carriers...
