Captains Posting for SkyRegional

Post by DHC-1 Jockey »

Does anyone know what this means when they are asking for DH8 type rated pilots? If it was to crew their current Q400's, I would have though they would have asked for DH4 or Q400 type ratings.

Is SkyRegional getting into the baby Dash business?

Pretty sure its a DH8 type rating for both the classic and Q4.

Posting is for the current Q400 operation. No classics but they like the rating because it's just a differences course.

It's called fear mongering.

They must be hard up to be looking for Dash Captains in their 3rd year of operation!

A "DH4" is a Caribou.
A "DH8" is a Dash 8 -100/200/300/400. The term Q400 (or QXXX) is not found on a licence.

I am all for SR getting DH4's. A whole fleet of them.

I know a DH4 is a Caribou, but I see on our pairing sheets that the Q4 is listed as DH4, and the baby dash (100/300) is DH8, hence my confusion. When I saw Sky advertising for DH8 pilots, I assumed they meant baby dash, but I guess different companies use different designations for the same aircraft type.

The one that goes thump when you land, that's the one they want. Ok?

Me positioning home on Jazz many times, while looking out the window, staring at the goofy landing gear:

"Oh man, nice flare, perfect timing, this is going to be sweet, just a little more, it'll be good for your ego, perfect, here comes the grease"
KA-THUMP.

"Wha'happen? Looked good to me guys, thanks for the pretzels"

First time ever going into YTZ with the local outfit on one of their Q4, thas was a day of wild gyrations, wings up the down followed by the KA-THUMP. Oh well, the price of convenience........... :)

Pushing a shopping cart off a picnic table. It is what it is. Tough old bird though. Built like a tank, classics anyway.

It's the long oleo-extension that all DH retract gear have - no greasers unless it's a slick runway.

My wife judges how bad a dash landing is by how many bins open up.

Props 900. 120 knots, power idle minimal flare and land flat. Works rather well.

I was told many years ago that as long as you don't get sued, it was a good landing!!

Depending on which Dash and if you have supplement. Some don't and landing is with props at 1200 for the 100/300.

I've got tones of hours on a Dash 100/300 and only landed props 1200 a few times, mainly due to turbulence and strong gusts!

Also, if you can't land a dash smooth, at least 95% of the time, then maybe it's your skill level! It's really not that bad to land! It's actually a chanllenge, make things fun!

1200!! 1050 maybe. 1200 flaps 35 yes. I'm talking from the Jazz side of things with our SOPs and supplements. Regardless, I'm a 900rpm guy, supplements permitting of course.
