Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Heard had to dump fuel and return to yyz, anyone know what happened?
Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Well unless WJA started flying something bigger than a 737 your source is on the same stuff Rob Ford is doing. The 737 is not equipped to dump fuel.

Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Came through word of mouth, no some one who was on the flight (non aviation related) who said they had to dump fuel

Well, since a 737 CANT DUMP FUEL, it's not even an incident, now is it?? It's a crock.
It should be posted under "Crocks and Rumours".

Flight aware shows it going over florida, then turning back and going into a hold, then returning to YYZ.

Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Did you mean over Virginia, rather than Florida?
Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Little bit defensive there... seems like an aircraft diverting all the way back to YYZ from the southern US is a reasonable inquiry and topic for a thread in this category. Since you appear to have some stake maybe you could enlighten us on the reason?Brown Bear wrote:

Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Maybe they flew all the way to VA and back because it couldn't dump fuel? 737 and all that, you know.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Did I miss something? Was there an engine failure or other mechanical reason the plane shouldn't turn around...maybe it was as simple as a snag that would have grounded ac at destination and opps would rather have the tail home, or maybe if they absolutely needed to burn gas anyway why not return to yyz if it was safe to do so.altiplano wrote:Little bit defensive there... seems like an aircraft diverting all the way back to YYZ from the southern US is a reasonable inquiry and topic for a thread in this category. Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
A whole pile of unhappy passengers.
It sure is curious tho that the 737 is stuck to its -200 grandfathered roots without fuel dumping. I guess the A320 doesn't have it either though.

They heard Justin Bieber was onboard, they were told to return.
Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
It was a RH Bleed Light that came on and the reason they turned back was due to no Maintenance in The Dominican so good call by the flight crew

Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
What's wrong with the OP asking in a thread? Seems the replies that are giving him a hard time for asking are a bit touchy.KAG wrote:Did I miss something? Re: Westjet flight to dominican from toronto
Well Ok...splitting hairs......."Bleed Trip Off" requires maintenance actions to MEL if you are unable to reset it. Not to mention operating restrictions that that make it highly desirable to fix the problem for continued operations.7thirtyseven wrote:Dont thank him, the "RH Bleed light" belongs in the same catagory as fuel dumping....
