In Canada if you are assigned runway heading on departure, am I correct that you do not allow for wind correction? Very basic question but this differs in many parts of the world. Can someone please give me a reference in the TC doc's. Thanks intake
That is correct you do not correct for wind. Runway heading is runway heading. As for the reference in TC's docs I haven't got a clue where that is written down.

Welcome to Redneck Airlines. We might not get you there but we'll get you close!
When instructed to fly on the runway heading, or when
flying a SID for which no specific heading is published, pilots
are expected to fly or maintain the heading that corresponds
with the extended centreline of the departure runway until
otherwise instructed by ATC. Drift correction must not be
applied, e.g. Runway 04, if the actual magnetic heading of the
runway centreline is 044°, then fly a heading of 044°M.
It's not hard to download TC AIM in pdf format and search for "runway heading".

DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
There are some new SID's coming out that specify "Fly Track" such as the new Devon 1 for CYEG. Would have told you to search for it in the AIM but if we were all experts at searching for stuff on our own this forum would only have job ads instead of discussions.
Ha, The departure for RWY 12 in YEG has always been track to the Leduc beacon, but occasionally when you contact departure, they say "continue runway heading". So after I have been carefully tracking to the beacon with a 20 degree crab, I dutifully turn back to runway heading. I have heard this even after the Devon 1 SID started being used on other runways.
