I heard this was coming down the pipe for years now. I checked the TC website CARs and didn't see it changed yet. I know they do a pretty good job keeping the CARs up to date. Do you have any hard proof in-hand of this? I for one would welcome it.

The TC website no longer has CARs. They're all obfuscated on the Justice Canada website now.

After speaking with my medical examiner and Transport Canada in Montreal, it is confirmed that, as of April 14th 2014, the new validity periods for medical classes will take effect.

For now, the only references that I know of are the Canada Gazette, Vol. 147, No. 8, http://www.gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2013/ ... 3-eng.html and the AIM, LRA section, page 9 (see attachment).

Transport Canada will send us a sticker to use on page 15 (Medical certification) of our Aviation booklet to reflect those changes. CAR 404.04 will be amended before April 14th.

If your medical is still valid, as of april 14th 2014, the new validity period will apply.

Do you have anything in writing from TC? A lot of people in my company are getting conflicting information...

UPDATE: I've since gotten some information passed along, with information from TC, that what you've said is correct. Thanks!
