I'm currently out of the Country but received the following text exchange with board member Kevin Wong this morning and wanted to share this exciting update!
Kevin: "We have huge potential funding and operational support from AB Justice for JustAir. Spoke with my acquaintance minister Denis whose office just followed up. We need to "projectize" our plans cuz they can't do permanent things but can fund projects. I think we should ask operational funding for more substantial aircraft rental and fuel and insurance for "n" number of visits to various communities.
Minister Denis wants to put as much support from Justice that he can incl launch event attendance, ongoing publicity, ongoing calls for lawyers, multi project funding, etc"
My reply: "That's awesome! And here I thought I rocked because I just got us a booth at 'Law Day' this April lol..... We will have lots to talk about at our next Law Day board meeting! Good work Kevin!"
Next board meeting to be held March 8th 2:00pm at our regular location!

For those of you who don't know:
In 2013 "Just Air" became a registered charitable society. Just Air is a grass roots program with a mandate to fly into remote areas of the Province of Alberta (to start) to provide probono legal clinics to marginalized communities who struggle with having access to justice and whose individuals can't afford to travel into major centres to obtain probono legal assistance. We are about to file our year end documents, and so far our Board of Directors consists primarily of lawyers. We would appreciate adding a couple of Directors to our volunteer board who are in the Calgary area and who have a background in aviation. Our program is modeled similarly to other like programs such as "Hope Air".

After several meetings, the board for Just Air has selected Friday, May 16th, 2014 to be our tentative launch date out of Springbank airport, West of Calgary for our inaugural charity flight!
We are in the process of developing our website which you will soon be able to find at www.justair.org (currently under construction). You can also meet some of our team at the Calgary Court Centre at our booth exhibit for Law Day April 26, 2014 in Calgary.
Next week (tentatively on Tuesday) we will be meeting with Probono Law Alberta to collaborate and coordinate our charity projects. On Friday, March 28th we have a tentative appointment scheduled with the Justice Minister to discuss long term sustainability and project funding.
I'd like to thank the board for all it's hard work and progressive momentum to make this project a reality this year. We will be contacting those pilots (and lawyers) who Pm'd me last year with an interest in joining our volunteer roster, and we plan to do so within the next month.

PBLA (Probono Law Alberta) who is assisting us with the JUST AIR project has requested that we have our inaugural flight at the end of June with another mission to follow in August. So, please scratch the details from my earlier post re: May 16th being our inaugural flight date....the powers that be move slower than our group.
