Suggest you do a "Search".

fill out this form, print it off, and fax it to the FAA in OKC at 405 954 9922 along with photocopies of your pilot license and medical.
The FAA mails you back a verification letter, after it checks with Transport. You get an FAA medical, write the conversion written test, drive to a FSDO, pick it up, and get a BFR.

Go there:
http://www.airrichelieu.com/en/about-us.html
Scroll down and click on "FAA LICENCES" bottom left corner and you will read this with all pertinent links which I couldn't not include here.
All the things that need to be studied can be found at the URL below, with another set of explanations if you didn't understand what's above
http://www.gleim.com/aviation/online/cr ... utline.php
And only for the Avcanada search engine:
-FAA Pilot Certificate Conversion for Canadian Pilots
-ATPL conversion to FAA
-CANADIAN LICENCES (TCCA) INTO AMERICAN LICENCES (FAA)
-CANADIAN LICENSES (TCCA) INTO AMERICAN LICENSES (FAA)

I did it in 2008 and Mrs Colleens was very friendly. First person I met which had an impressive Heterochromia (I let you goggle this one)

I know, it should be spelled license.INFORMATION REGARDING THE CONVERSION OF CANADIAN LICENCES (TCCA) INTO AMERICAN LICENCES (FAA)
1. Obtain a letter from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) verifying the authenticity of your Canadian licence; In order to do so, you must:
1. Fill out form 8060-71 and fax it to 405-954-9922;
2. Provide the location of the Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) where you intend to retrieve your licence (If Albany, NY is your chosen FSDO, please note in box 11: ‘Albany FSDO in Latham, NY’;
1. You will receive your verification of authenticity letter by mail;
2. This process may take up to 45 days.

In possession of those three documents, you will be able to take an appointment with your chosen FSDO.
Should the Albany FSDO be the chosen one, please make an appointment with Mrs Colleen M. McGrady. However, before doing so, it is strongly recommended to:

Re: Canadian ATPL conversion to American help
Just got my FAA CPL with Multi Instrument and it was easier than anything here has listed. Did the form to Oklahoma City, waited for my Verification Letter in the mail. The next trip I made to the US I made an appointment with the local FSDO and filled out an Airman Application form, they took copies of my Canadian CPL and passport and I took home a temp. Airman Certificate. Of course it is based on a current and valid Canadian CPL so it's essentially a foreign validation. If you want a stand alone US Airman Certificate without the foreign validation the previous posts sound about right. Call OKC if you have any questions or any FSDO, they are really friendly and I'm not being sarcastic.
Re: Canadian ATPL conversion to American help
Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated, and as for you Panama jack.............search how to be a dick in one click............
Re: Canadian ATPL conversion to American help
I wouldn't not criticize Panama Jack, he is right.
All we wrote in this particular topic has been rehearsed a few time here.
For the fun I typed " Canadian conversion to FAA" on the search and it came up with 15 pages. Not all are relevant and the first one is about what's in here but still, probably more than enough to dig around

Easy there, hoss - he's right. This question has ( and, I guess, will continue to be ) beaten to death. Several of us have contributed instructions several times. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I'll take your word of advice, Altsel.
As for my advice, by doing a search you actually benefit yourself by getting a wealth of information from threads that have exhausted the topic to death, thereby learning considerably more than from just a couple of posts from very patient members who are willing to reguritate the essentials on a silver platter . . . just for you!
Now, back to my Google search on how to be a dick.
