Foreign Pilots in Canada ..... Please Read
After I heard about a few incidences with Canadian Companies striking deals with the Cdn. Government(TC) to bring foreign pilots to Canada, to fill pilot positions because there was a 'shortage' here, I contacted some people and a complaint was filed with the Ministry of Labour.
Well, I just heard back that they(Ministry) would like to hear more, and would like to know of any other incidences like this occuring.
So if you have any info you could pass along, please e-mail me with details. ASAP!
Thanks
Chris

Please tell me you didn't file a complaint with the government based on heresay or rumors. The permission for any work permit to foreigners is a Citizenship and Immigration Canada matter.
I am aware that Jetsgo hired short term (6 month) contract Captains, due to a lack of current and qualified people to take those shoes. That is fare, IMHO.
Yes, we do have foreign pilots immigrating to Canada, however, that is due to the fact that our immigration system is based on a points system-- which deems them acceptable in a broad sense rather than signaling them out due to the fact that they are "pilots."
Perhaps you have some information that you could share that would help us help you?

Immigration should be allowed when there is a genuine shortage of personnel available and the Jetsgo situation is a good example of it. As soon as there are qualified Canadians they go home..
What is wrong though, is to allow pilots to immigrate to Canada to take away jobs that have no shortage. Do we have a shortage of 250 hr pilots? How about 1000 hrs or even 2000 hrs. Not the last time I checked, so, if we don't need them, why allow the immigration? It just further overloads an already overloaded system.
It makes no sense to me and should not be allowed.

This sounds like grounds for involving the "discrimination" police. Chris, I am really surprised that you would discriminate against anyone in this manner. Did you thoroughly think this through before involving the Ministry? There could be repurcussions over this one, if any UK members read this!! Remember, this happens in Europe and the UK as well.
